Preb. prob. in existence by c. 1150 (Psalter list). Called preb. of Old Sarum 1220 × 26 (RSO I 259-60, also pd. ibid. II 50 and Sar. Chs. pp. 167-8). Called preb. of St Laurence Stratford 1291 (Taxatio p. 182a). Preb. consisted of land and tithes (see VCH Wilts. VI 203).
