Malmes. I 398; cf. RSO I 256; Sar. Chs. pp. 91, 92). Occ. several times. Occ. this preb. Oct. 1226 × Feb. 1227 (app. 1). Fined for non-residence Feb. 1227 (RSO II 76). Bp., el. 9 Sept. 1228, temps. before 3 Apr. 1229, cons. 27 May (list 1).

Presum. royal clk., had custody of bpric. of Chichester to 20 June 1262 (CPR 1258-66 p. 217) and of bpric. of Salisbury to 10 Apr. 1263 (ibid. p. 254). Royal coll. to this preb., s.v., 15 March 1263 (ibid. p. 252). Still alive 8 Aug. 1263 (ibid. p. 274). Not otherwise known, unless to be identified with John archdcn. of Dorset (list 7) or John de Badde, unident. preb. (list 66).

First occ. as can. and this preb. May-June 1284 (app. 2). Also occ. as can. 10 May 1288 (app. 3). Last occ. as can. 2 March 1297 (CCR 1296-1302 p. 91; cf. CPR 1292-1301 p. 262). D. as preb. before 16 Apr. 1304 (Reg. Gandavo II 630). Perhaps to be identified with William Dacus who was commem. at Exeter, though not a can. there, 19 July (Exeter obit.: Exeter D. & C. MS 3518 fo. 36r).
