Answer from the H. C.
Mr. Baron Trevor and Mr. Justice Bacon returned with this Answer from the House of Commons:
That, concerning the Printing of the Directory, they will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.
Mr. Serjeant Whitfield and Mr. Serjeant Finch returned with this Answer from the House of Commons; videlicet, "In regard of the many weighty Affairs now upon their House, their House will appoint a Time to take their Lordships Message into Consideration, concerning the Earl Denbigh; and then will send an Answer in convenient Time."
Message from the H. C. for the Archbishop of Cant's Execution.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Nicholas, &c.
To desire their Lordships Concurrence, that Execution shall be done upon the Body of Wm. Laude Archbishop of Canterbury, upon Friday next, being attainted of High Treason by Judgement of both Houses of Parliament: And the Lieutenant of The Tower is hereby enjoined to deliver his Body over to the Sheriffs of London; and the Sheriffs of London are hereby required to see Execution done accordingly, upon Tower Hill.
Ordered, That this House agrees with the House of Commons in this Message.
The Answer returned was:

That this House agrees with the House of Commons in the Message now brought up, concerning the Execution of the Archbishop of Canterbury on Friday next.
Message from the H. C. to expedite the Ordinance to exclude Members of both Houses from holding Offices, Civil or Military.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Reynolds, &c.
To desire their Lordships to expedite the Ordinance for disabling the Members of either House to bear Office, in regard of the Posture the Armies are now in; and that the Houses are now upon the Treaty.
The Answer returned was:

That their Lordships will take this Business into Consideration, and send an Answer by Messengers of their own.
Message to the H. C. for a Conference on this Ordinance.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Page and Dr. Aylett:
To desire a Conference To-morrow Morning, at Ten of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber, concerning the Ordinance concerning the Members of either House to bear Office.
French Minister desires an Answer to his former Papers, and to deliver somewhat further.
The Earl of Northumb. reported to the House, "That the French Resident sent to his Lordship, to desire him to signify to this House, That he desires an Answer to the Papers he formerly delivered in to this House; and he hath further Things given him in Charge from France, to deliver to this House; but he would know to what Committee it is referred, and how he may address himself with those Complaints he hath."
Ordered, That this Business shall be further considered of To-morrow.
Ordinance to establish the Directory.
Ordered, That the Lord Admiral, Earl of Manchester, and the Lord Wharton, are hereby appointed to see the inserting the Alterations and Additions in the Ordinance for establishing the Directory.
Adjourn.
