Doctor Heath and Mr. Eltonheade return with this Answer from the House of Commons:
That concerning these Particulars following, they will take them into Consideration, and will send an Answer by Messengers of their own; videlicet,
1. The Ordinance for securing Malignants, with Amendments.
2. The Ordinance for the Lord Fairfax to be continued Constable of The Tower of London.
3. The Report from the Committee of Admiralty concerning the Fleet for the Irish Coast.
4. Order concerning the Receiver's Place of Yorkeshire.
5. Instructions concerning the Surprize of Barwicke, with One Addition.
6. The Ordinance for Mr. Hussy to be Minister of Westham.
Munster Officers Petition for Arrears.
Upon reading the Petition of some of the Officers of Munster; desiring, "That some Part of their Arrears may be paid to them, for their present Subsistence:"
It is Ordered, To be sent down to the House of Commons, with Recommendations.
Petition from the Common Council of London:
A Petition was presented to this House, by Alderman Avery and other Citizens of London, in the Name of the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and Commons, of the City of London, in Common Council; which, being received, was read publicly.
And then the Petitioners withdrew.
And the House took into Consideration what Answer to give them for the present.
And after some Debate;
That Question being put, "Whether to give the City a general Answer for the present, and to put off the further Consideration of this Petition till Thursday Morning next?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Committee to prepare an Answer to it.
Then these Lords were appointed to draw up a general Answer, and to present the same to the House presently:

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Knightly; who brought divers Particulars, wherein they desire their Lordships Concurrence:
1. Instructions to be sent to the Commissioners in Scotland, concerning the Surprizing of Barwicke and Carlile. (Here enter it.)
Agreed to.
2. A Vote desiring the General with his Army to march Northward. (Here enter it.)
Agreed to.
3. A Vote for Mr. Thomas Marsh to be High Sheriff of the County of Cambridge. (Here enter it.)

The Answer returned was:

Ordered, That the High Sheriff and Under Sheriff of the County of Warrwicke shall attend this House on Friday Morning next.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Dr. Bennet and Mr. Eltonbeade:
1. To desire their Concurrence for a Pass, for Four Horses, for the Prince Elector, into France.
2. To deliver to them the Petition of the Officers of Munster, with special Recommendations.
3. To put them in Mind of the Lord Crumwell's Business.
4. To put them in Mind of the Petition of Mary Harris.
Ordinance to unite Baltimore and Huxholme Churches.
An Ordinance was brought in, and read, for uniting the Churches of Baltimore and Huxholme, in the County of Devon.
Approved of; and sent down to the House of Commons, by Dr. Bennett and Mr. Eltonheade, for their Concurrence.
Answer to the Petition from the Common Council.
The Earl (fn. 1) reported the Draught of the Answer to be returned to the Petition of the City, drawn up by the Committee; which was read.
The Question being put, "Whether to pass this, as it came from the Committee, without any Addition?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Then the Petitioners (fn. 2) were called in again; and the Speaker read the Answer to them, as followeth:
"The Lords have taken your Petition into their Consideration; and because the Day is far spent, and the Petition contains Matter of great Consequence, their Lordships have appointed a short Day to take a Resolution thereupon, wherein they hope to fall upon such Ways as may best conduce to the Safety and Welfare of the Kingdom and City."
Sir P. Pindar and the E. of Mulgrave, about Allum Mines.
A Petition of Sir Paul Pindar was read; desiring, to be heard, before he be outed of the Allum Mines in Mulgrave, (fn. 3) to which he pretends he hath legal Right in Law by Patent; and that there be other Things granted in the Patent besides the Allum Mines:"
It is Ordered, That Sir Paul Pindar shall be heard, by Counsel, To-morrow Sevennight; in the mean Time, the Order of this House of the 4th of May Instant shall be suspended.
Ponder to be instituted to Courtnall;
Ordered, That Dr. Heath give Institution and Induction unto Wm. Ponder Clerk, Master of Arts, to the Rectory of Courtnall, in the Diocese of Peterborough, void by the Death of the last Incumbent; salvo Jure cujuscunque: Granted by the Great Seal.
Ellis to South Kyme;
Ordered, That Dr. Aylett give Institution and Induction unto Jo. Ellis Master of Arts, to the Vicarage of South Kyme, in Com. Lincolne, void by the Death of the last Incumbent; salvo Jure cujuscunque: Granted by the Great Seal.
and Lawson to Croxby.
Ordered, That Dr. Aylett give Institution and Induction unto Vincent Lawson Clerk, to the Rectory of Croxby, in Com. Lincolne, void by the Death of the last Incumbent: Granted under the Great Seal; with a salvo Jure cujuscunque.
"An Instruction for Charles Earl of Nottingham, Henry Earl of Stanford, Brian Stapleton, Robert Goodwin, William Ashburst, and John Birch, Esquires, Commissioners from the Parliament of England to the Parliament of Scotland.
Instruction for the Commissioners in Scotland, about the Surprizal of Berwick and Carlisle.
"You, or any Two of you, are to signify to the Parliament of Scotland, or (they not sitting) to the Committee of Estates of that Kingdom, That the Town of Berwicke and City of Carlile are surprized, by some Delinquents, Enemies to both Kingdoms, who were lately in that Kingdom; and, as we are informed, it is by some of those that were demanded from the Parliament of Scotland."
Ld. Fairfax to march into the North.
"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That the General be desired forthwith to go down into the North, with such Force as he shall think fit, to reduce the Places in those Parts seized on and possessed by Delinquents and Enemies to the Kingdom, and for preventing any Danger that may arrive to those Parts, or to the Disturbance and Danger of the Peace of the Kingdom."
Marsh to be Sheriff of Camb. and Hunt.
"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That they do nominate and approve of Thomas Marsh Esquire, to be High Sheriff of the Counties of Cambridge and Huntington; and that the Commissioners of the Great Seal do pass a Patent, under the Great Seal, to the said Thomas Marsh, to be Sheriff of the said Counties accordingly."
