Mr. Secretary Cooke, and others:
Message from the H. C. concerning a Fast.
That their House desire the Lords to grant them a Conference; whereunto the Lords Agreed, That a Committee of Eight and Twenty of the Lords will meet with a proportionable Number of the Commons, in the Painted Chamber, presently.
Committee for the Conference.
The Names of the said Committee: videlicet,
Report from the Conference.
The said Committee being returned from this Conference; the Lord President reported, That the Committee for the Commons had presented unto their Lordships a Petition to be made unto the King for a Fast; in which Petition they had left a Blank for the Lords to be joined with them, if they please.
This Petition being read; and these Words inserted in the Blank; videlicet, "Lords Spiritual and Temporal" it was again read, and generally Assented unto by the whole House. And the Lord President and the Lord Admiral were appointed to know of His Majesty what Day He will appoint for the Delivery of the said Petition unto Him.
All which was signified unto the said Committee of the Commons, who attended in the Painted Chamber.
The Tenor of the said Petition followeth: videlicet,
Petition for the Fast.
"Most Gracious Sovereign,
"We Your Majesty's most humble and loyal Subjects, the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, upon a tender and compassionate Sense of the extreme Calamities of the Reformed Churches Abroad, and with much Sorrow apprehending the heavy Displeasure of Almighty God declared against ourselves, in the manifold Evils already fallen upon us, and in those which are further threatened (as by Your Sacred Majesty was intimated unto us), even to the utter Destruction and Subversion of this Church and State, all which our Sins have most justly deserved: And being now, by Your Majesty's Gracious Favour, assembled in Parliament (as the Great Council of this Your Kingdom), to consult of such Means as we conceive fittest to redress the present and future Evils (wherein, thro' God's Blessing, we intend to employ our uttermost Endeavours, with as good Hearts to Your Majesty and the Public Service as ever People did), do, in the first Place, humbly beseech Your Majesty, that, by Your special Command, one or more Days may be forthwith set apart, wherein both ourselves and this Your whole Kingdom may, by Fasting and Prayer, seek Reconciliation, at the Hands of Almighty God, and with humble and penitent Hearts beseech Him to remove those Miseries that lie upon us and our Neighbour Churches, to avert those which are threatened, to continue the Favours we yet enjoy, and particularly to bestow abundant Blessing upon Your Majesty and this present Parliament, so that, all our Councils and Resolutions being blessed with His Divine Assistance, they may produce much Honour, Safety, and Happiness to Your Majesty, Your People, and Allies."

The Grand Committee for Privileges, etc. which was appointed Yesterday, was read and rectified this Day; all the Lords who were then absent being omitted, and Time and Place appointed for their Meeting: videlicet, every Monday, at Two post meridiem, in the Painted Chamber.
Sub committee for the same.
The Names of the Lords Sub-committees to take Consideration of the Customs and Orders of the House, and Privileges of the Peers of the Kingdom or Lords of Parliament, and to perfect the Journal Book: videlicet,
They, or any Four of them, to meet every Saturday, at Two in the Afternoon, in the Painted Chamber, and at what other Times their Lordships please.

The Names of the Lords Committees for Petitions: videlicet,
