The Prince's Journey to Spain, etc.

THE Lords renewing their Consideration (begun Yesterday) what Advice to give the King in this great Business touching the Treaty of the Prince's Match with Spaine, and the Recovery of the Palatinate, their Lordships generally Agreed, That they cannot advise of the one without the other; and, although they have thus far declared themselves here, that it is not safe for His Majesty to continue the Treaty of either, nor to expect the Restitution of the Palatinate by any other Means than the Sword; yet their Lordships thought it not fit to deliver their single Advice herein unto His Majesty, but first to confer thereof with the Commons; and, when the Two Houses shall be agreed of their Advice herein, then to deliver the same unto His Majesty jointly from them both.

And, to the End this might be the more freely discussed amongst them, before their Lordships came to the Vote, the whole House was put into a Committee, the Lord Keeper removing to his Seat on the Earls Bench. And, when their Lordships had long debated this Matter, and their general Resolution known, the Lord Keeper returned to his Place on the Wool-sack.

And it was Agreed, by general Vote, That, in this Conference, which their Lordships intend to have with the Commons, their Lordships will deliver, That they conceive there is a Necessity to treat of the March and Palatinate together.

And also, That their Lordships are of Opinion, That His Majesty rely not upon any further Treaties; except their Lordships shall hear from them better Reasons at the Conference.

Committee to search for Precedents of former Treaties and Supplies

Their Lordships also appointed a select Committee to search for Precedents of former Treaties, and of Supplies to the King in Matters of this Kind: videlicet,

To agree presently (after the Adjournment of the House) for their particular Searches; and to meet together on Monday next, at Eight in the Morning, in the Painted Chamber.

And it is Agreed, That any of His Majesty's Servants shall deliver them such Papers and several Dispatches out of Spaine to be perused, as they shall require.
