Bourchier's Bill.
After reading, and considering, the Report of the Judges, to whom the Petition of the Honourable Katherine Bourchier Widow and others, for Leave to bring in a Bill, was referred:
Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for Sale of Part of the Estate late of Brereton Bourchier Esquire, deceased, for Payment of Debts, and other Purposes therein mentioned."
Wilson versus Tiffin.
The House being moved, "That Katherine Tiffin Widow, Respondent to the Appeal of John Wilson Esquire, may be ordered to put in her Answer thereunto by a peremptory Day; she having been served with the Order of this House (made upon lodging the said Appeal) the Fifth Instant; but had been served sooner, could she, or the Place of her Abode, been sound after the strictest Inquiry:"
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Katherine Tiffin do peremptorily put in her Answer to the said Appeal on or before Wednesday next, at Eleven a Clock.
Daly versus French.
Upon reading the Petition of Denis Daly Junior Esquire and Ellin his Wife; setting forth, "That, upon lodging their Appeal in this House, they obtained an Order for Mary French to put in her Answer thereunto the Ninth Instant; which Order was served upon the said Respondent's Six Clerk the Eighteenth of May last; and praying a peremptory Day for answering:"
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Mary French do peremptorily put in her Answer to the said Appeal on or before this Day Sevennight, at Eleven a Clock.
Queen's Bounty to poor Clergy, Bill.
Whereas this Day was appointed, for the House to be in a Committee on the Bill, intituled, "An Act for making more effectual Her Majesty's Gracious Intentions, for the Augmentation of the Maintenance of the poor Clergy:"
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the House be put into a Committee thereupon, on Tuesday next, at Twelve a Clock.
Ld. Vis. Massereen's Bill.
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for confirming a Settlement made on the Marriage of the now Lord Viscount Massereene; and for better securing the Jointure of his Lady, and of Rachel Viscountess Dowager Massereene; and for vesting in Trustees certain Lands and Tithes in Ireland, to be sold, for the Purposes therein mentioned."
Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following:
Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Thursday the Twenty-fourth Day of this Instant June, at Ten a Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.
House, when in a Committee, not to be resumed without Consent of the Committee.
Ordered and Declared, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That, when the House shall be put into a Committee of the whole House, the House be not resumed, without the unanimous Consent of the Committee, unless upon a Question put by the Lord who shall be in the Chair of such Committee.
Schism, to prevent, Bill.
The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee, to take into further Consideration the Bill, intituled, "An Act to prevent the Growth of Schism; and for the further Security of the Church of England as by Law established."
And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.
And the Lord Archbishop of York reported from the said Committee, "That they had made some further Progress in the Bill; and had directed him to move, that they may have Leave to sit again."
Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee, to consider further of the said Bill, To-morrow at One a Clock; and the Lords to be summoned.
Adjourn.
