Officers of Customs in N. Britain, Establishment of.

The House being informed, "That a Person from the Commissioners of the Treasury attended at the Door;" he was called in, and delivered, at the Bar, pursuant to the Order of this House of Thursday last, a Paper, intituled as follows; (videlicet,)

"Copy of the Establishment of the Officers of the Customs in North Britain; with an Account of what Ports, and Members of the Ports, are assigned and appointed there."

Which said Title being read;

Ordered, That the said Paper be referred to the Committee of the whole House, appointed to consider of a Bill, intituled, "An Act to encourage the Transportation of Naval Stores from North Britain into South Britain."

Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Conyers and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for laying a Duty upon Hops;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Conference on the Bill for Preservation of Game:

The Managers for the House of Commons, of the Conference appointed to be had this Day, in relation to the Bill for Preservation of the Game, being come:

Managers.

The Lords following were named Managers of the said Conference; (videlicet,)

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure; and the Lords went to the Conference.

Which being ended, the House was resumed.

Conference reported:

And the Earl of Dorset reported, "That the Managers had been at the Conference; and the Commons delivered the Bill, and gave Reasons for their Disagreement to Clause (A.) added by this House, as amended by the House of Commons."

Hereupon the Committee following was named.

Committee to prepare Heads for a further Conference.

Lords Committees appointed to consider of what may be proper to be offered to the House of Commons, at a Conference, upon the Subject-matter of the last Conference; and report to the House; (videlicet,)

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet presently, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

Hops, Duty upon, Bill.

Hodie 1^a & 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for laying a Duty upon Hops."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Monday next, at Twelve a Clock.

Roth's Bill.

The Earl of Clarendon reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Relief of Abraham Roth, of the Kingdom of Ireland, Esquire, in relation to the Purchase of Part of the forfeited Estates in Ireland," was committed: "That they had considered the same; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

Heads for a Conference on the Bill for Preservation of Game.

The Earl of Dorset reported from the Lords Committees, appointed to consider of what may be proper to be offered to the House of Commons, at a Conference, upon the Subject-matter of the last Conference, as follows; (videlicet,)

"The Lords observing, that the Reasons offered by the Commons, at the last Conference, are not Reasons directed against Clause (A.) as sent down to the Commons; but are offered by the Commons as Reasons against the said Amendment as amended by the Commons: Their Lordships cannot but take Notice of this, as unusual in the Methods of Proceedings on Amendments between the Two Houses; and therefore the Lords must necessarily desire the Opinion of the Commons upon the Proviso as sent down by their Lordships;"

To which the House agreed.

Message to H. C. for the Conference.

Then, a Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Rogers and Mr. Orlebar:

To desire a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber, upon the Subject-matter of the last Conference.

Writs of Mandamus and Quo Warranto, Bill:

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for rendering the Proceedings upon Writs of Mandamus and Informations in the Nature of a Quo Warranto more speedy and effectual; and for the more easy trying and determining the Rights of Offices and Franchises, in Corporations and Boroughs."

Judges of Queen's Bench approve of it.

The Judges of the Court of Queen's Bench, attending (according to Order) declared, "That they had perused the said Bill, and approve of the same."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Monday next.

The Messengers sent to the House of Commons, return Answer:

That the Commons agree to a present Conference, as desired.

Conference on the Bill for Preservation of Game.

The Commons being come to the Conference, the former Managers Names were read.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure; and the Lords went to the Conference.

Which being ended, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Dorset reported, "That the Managers had been at the Conference; and had delivered the Bill, with their Lordships Reasons, to the Commons."

Naval Stores from N. Britain, Bill.

Whereas this Day was appointed for the House to be in a Committee on the Bill, intituled, "An Act to encourage the Transportation of Naval Stores from North Britain into South Britain:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the House shall be put into a Committee, on Wednesday next, at Twelve a Clock; and nothing to intervene.

Adjourn.
