Prayers.

Discovering Judgments.

MR. Waller, presented to the House a Bill for the better Discovery of Judgments in the Courts at Westminster. And the same was received.

Hudson's Bay Company.

A Petition of the Master, Wardens, and Assistants, of the Company of Felt-makers, London, was read; setting forth, That 2 Willielmi et Mariæ, the Hudson's Bay Company obtained an Act to strengthen their Charter; wherein is contained a Proviso, That the Company shall make, at least, Two public Sales of Coat Beaver every Year, and not more than Four: And that the said Company shall not sell Coat Beaver by private Contracts, at any lower Price than the same was set up at the last publick Sale; but for want of a Penalty in the said Act the Company have frequently broken the said Proviso: Whereupon the Petitioners, the last Session, did represent the Mischiefs arising thereby; and by Petition to the House, prayed Redress, as also a Prohibition of the Exportation of Coney Wool and Hares Wool; whereby the whole Manufacture of making Hats might be appropriated to this Kingdom, many Thousands of Poor People employed, and their Majesties Revenue advanced: That the said Petition was referred to a Committee of the House; who, having heard the Petitioners, and the said Company, were of Opinion, and did report to the House, That the House should be moved for Leave to bring in a Bill according to the said Petition, with a Prohibition to the Exportation of Coney Wool and Hares Wool, unless the same shall be under the Price of Seven Shillings per Pound: And Leave being given, a Bill was brought in accordingly; but, it being toward the End of that Session, the same could not be ripened for the Royal Assent; And praying Leave to bring in a Bill for preventing fraudulent Sales by the Hudson's Bay Company, and to prevent the Exportation of Coney Wool and Hares Wool.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill, according to the Prayer of the said Petition.

Privilege-Petition from Persons in custody.

A Petition of Daniel Price, and Henry Williams, in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, was read; setting forth, That the Petitioners being committed for a Breach of Privilege in arresting one Roderick Powell, a menial servant of Francis Lloyd, Esquire, a Member of this House, as alleged, for Goods sold him for the Interment of Rice Price, Esquire; who by his Will, gave to the said Roderick a Maintenance; who is not, in the Country, reputed to be the Servant of Mr. Lloyd: Which the Petitioners believe to be true: And praying to be heard, in order to their Discharge.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee of Privileges and Elections: And that they do report the Matter, with their Opinions thereupon, to the House.

Ordered, That the Matter upon the said Petition be heard, by the said Committee, upon Monday next, in the Afternoon.

Book of Rates, &c.

Ordered, That Sir Rich. Temple, Mr. Biddulph, Sir Ro. Clayton, Mr. Cook, Mr. Fenwick, Mr. Blofeild, Sir Ra. Carr, Mr. Ogle, Mr. Cook, Sir Walt. Young, Mr. Godolphin, Mr. Beane, be added to the Committee to whom it is referred to inspect and consider of the Book of Rates, and the Balance of Trade, for the Advantage of this Kingdom.

Importing Silk.

A Motion being made, and the Question being put, That the Bill for Importation of fine Italian, Sicilian, and Naples Thrown Silk over Land be now read a Second time;

It passed in the Negative.

East India Company.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Saturday Morning next, at Ten a Clock, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of Heads for a Bill for preserving, regulating, and establishing the East India Trade.

Totnesse Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ for the electing a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Totnesse in the County of Devon, in the room of Sir John Fowell, Baronet, deceased.

Advice to the King.

Then the House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of that Part of his Majesty's Speech, whereby his Majesty desires the Advice of this House.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Francis Winnington took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Francis Winnington reported from the Committee, That they had made a further Progress in the Matter to them referred; and had directed him to move the House, That the Committee may have Leave to sit again.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Saturday Morning next, at Eleven a Clock, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of that Part of his Majesty's Speech, whereby he desires the Advice of this House.

Motion for Papers respecting the Descent.

A Motion being made, and the Question being put, That an humble Address be presented to his Majesty, That his Majesty will be pleased to order, That all Papers whatsoever, relating to the last Summer's Expedition, and the Descent, be laid before this House;

It passed in the Negative.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
