Supply Bill; Duties on Coffee, &c.
AN ingrossed Bill for the collecting the Duties upon Coffee, Tea, and Chocolate, at the Custom-house, was read the Third time.
Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title thereof be, An Act for the charging the Duties upon Coffee, Tea, and Chocolate, at the Custom-house.
Ordered, That Mr. Hamden do carry the Bill to the Lords, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.
Leave of Absence.
Ordered, That Mr. Northleigh have Leave to go into the Country, for Three Weeks.
Wortly's Children's Maintenance.
Mr. Grey reports from the Committee to whom the Bill for settling a Maintenance on the Children of Sidney Wortly alias Montague, Esquire, in case his Wife survive him, was referred, That they had agreed upon some Amendments to be made in the Bill: Which he read in his Place, with the Coherence; and then delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where they were once read throughout; and afterwards a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.
Ordered, That the Bill be ingrossed.
Bill of Indemnity.
Resolved, That the Bill of Indemnity be read the Second time upon Thursday Morning next, at Ten of the Clock; and nothing to intervene.
Pains and Penalties.
Resolved, That the Bill for inflicting Pains and Penalties, be read the First time upon Wednesday Morning next.
Hastings Election.
Ordered, That the Report from the Committee of Privileges and Elections, touching the Case of the Election of a Member to serve in this present Parliament for the Port of Hastings, be made on Friday Morning next.
Supply Bill; Land Tax.
Then the House resolved into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Bill for an additional Tax of One Shilling in the Pound for One Year.
Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Mr. Hamden took the Chair of the Committee.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.
