Prayers.

Wards and Liveries.

MR. Pierrepont reports Amendments to the Bill for taking away the Court of Wards: Which were read the First and Second time; and, on the Question, committed to a Grand Committee; who are to sit this Afternoon; and so, after Monday next, de die in diem, till this Business be dispatched.

Advances to the Public.

The humble Petition of Edward Backwell, Alderman of London, concerning several Sums of Money by him advanced on the Credit of several Orders of this House, was this Day read.

Resolved, That this House doth declare the said Service of the Petitioner to be a good Service, and very accept able to this House; and that he shall not thereby suffer in his Estate or Reputation.

Resolved, That it be referred to the Grand Committee, to whom the Amendments to the Bill concerning the Court of Wards, is referred, to consider of the said Petition; and to send for and speak with the Petitioner, and also with the Commissioners for Excise; and inform themselves whether Satisfaction is likely to be made to him, for the Sum so by him advanced, out of the Receipt of Excise, in the Course appointed, by or before the Twenty-fifth of December next; or what Part thereof; and, if they shall find it uncertain whether all, or any Part thereof, may, by that time, be satisfied at the said Receipt; then to consider how effectual Provision may be made for his certain Reimbursement; and to report the same to the House.

Sales.

Serjeant Rainsford reports from the Grand Committee for the Bill of Sales, the Desire of the said Committee, that they may have Leave to sit on Monday next, in the Afternoon:

Resolved, That the Grand Committee for the Bill of Sales, have Leave to sit on Monday next, in the Afternoon.

Court of Wards.

Ordered, That the Commissioners for the Excise do attend the Grand Committee to whom the Amendments to the Bill touching the Court of Wards, is referred, at Three of the Clock this Afternoon.

Highways.

Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Bill for Highways, is referred, do make their Report on Monday next.
