Thursday, the 12th of March, 1656.

Merchants Adventurers.

A BILL for Settling, Establishing, and Confirming, of the Fellowship, Society, and Company of Merchants Adventurers of England, in a Corporation, was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read the Second time this Day Fortnight.

Peck's Claims.

Ordered, That Mr. Peck's Report be made the Second Business on Saturday Morning next.

Waller's Claims.

Ordered, That Sir Hardres Waller's Bill be read the Second time on Tuesday Morning next.

Catechism.

Ordered, That the Bill for Catechising be read the Second time on Monday Morning next, the first Business.

Throckmorton.

Ordered, That the Certificate from the Court of Sessions, touching Mr. Throckmorton, be brought in on this Day Fortnight.

Remonstrance.

The House this Day resumed the Debate upon the Remonstrance.

The last Clause in the Fifth Article, beginning thus, "That as any of them do die," &c. was read.

The Question being propounded, That these Words, "both Houses," be Part of this Question;

And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;

It passed with the Negative.

And the Clause now read being put to the Question;

Resolved, That these Words, viz. "That as any of them do die," &c. be Part of the Remonstrance.

Resolved, That it be referred to a Committee, to consider of the judicial Proceedings of the other House: Lord Chief Justice Glyn, Sir Rich. Onsloe, Lord Commissioner Fiennes, Lord Commissioner Lisle, Mr. Secretary, Lord Commissioner Whitelock, Mr. Nath. Bacon, Colonel Jones, Mr. Jenkinson, General Disbrow, Major Audley, Mr. Bampfeild, Mr. Grove, Sir Charles Wolsley, Colonel Mathews, Colonel Cooper, Mr. Drake, Colonel Hawkesworth, Mr. Holland, Mr. Stewart, Lord Cleypoole, Lord Evers, Sir Christopher Pack, Mr. Smyth, Mr. Godfrey, Mr. Cromwell, Mr. Lawrence, Lord Broghill, Mr. Hampden, Mr. Bond, Baron Parker, Doctor Clarges, Mr. Trevor, Master of the Rolls, Mr. Dunch, Mr. Quarles, Colonel Purefoy, Captain Hatsell, Major Burton, Earl Tweddaile, Alderman Foote, Colonel Ireland, Mr. Francis Bacon, Sir Lislebon Long, Colonel Wilton, Mr. Meredeth, Sir John Thurogood, Mr. Wm. Lawrence: And are to meet To-morrow, at Seven of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber: With Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records.

Assessments.

Mr. Downing reports from the Grand Committee upon the Bill for Assessments, That they desire Leave to sit on Monday Sevennight in the Afternoon.

Resolved, That the Grand Committee upon the Bill for Assessments do sit on Monday Sevennight, in the Afternoon.

Thursday, in the Afternoon, the 12th of March, 1656.

Remonstrance.

THE Sixth Article was read:

Resolved, That the Votes of the Persons to be of the other House shall not be by Proxies.

The Question being propounded, That these Words, viz. "That in all other Particulars, which concern the Calling and Holding of Parliaments, his Highness will be pleased, that the Laws," &c. be Part of this Remonstrance;

Resolved, The Words "and Statutes" be added to this Clause, next after the Word "Laws:" And the whole Article, amended, was, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be Part of the Remonstrance.

Ordered, That the Debate upon this Remonstrance be adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock; and nothing to intervene.
