Friday, the 6th of March, 1656.

Waller's Claims.

A BILL for Settling, Establishing, and Confirming, of certain Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, in the County of Lymrick, and County of the City of Lymrick, in Ireland, upon Sir Hardres Waller, and his Heirs, was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read the Second time on Wednesday Morning next.

Barnslye's Estate.

Ordered, That Mr. Barnslye's Committee be revived: And that Mr. Goodwyn and Mr. Jenkinson be added to this Committee: And are to meet on Wednesday Sevennight, in the Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Bouchier's Claims.

Mr. Lister reports from the Committee to whom it was referred to consider of the Bond heretofore given by the Lord Commissioner Fiennes, Mr. John Ash, and Mr. Clement Walker, to Mary Bouchier, deceased; and what Person had Interest in the Six hundred Pounds mentioned in the said Bond, the Opinion of the Committee, in these Words; viz.

The Committee are of Opinion, That the Sum of Six hundred Pounds, for which a Bond was given by the Lord Commissioner Fiennes, Mr. John Ash, and Mr. Clement Walker, to Mary Bourchier, deceased, was given and employed to and for the Use of the State: That the Lord Commissioner Fiennes, Mr. John Ash, and Mr. Clement Walker, ought to be indemnified; and the Bond delivered up by the Executrix, to be cancelled.

The humble Petition of Joane Langton, Executrix of Mary Bouchier, deceased, was this Day read.

Resolved, That this House doth agree with the Committee, That the Sum of Six hundred Pounds, for which a Bond was given by the Lord Commissioner Fiennes, Mr. John Ash, and Mr. Clement Walker, to Mary Bouchier, deceased, was given and employed to and for the Use of the State: And that the Lord Commissioner Fiennes, Mr. John Ash, and Mr. Clement Walker, ought to be indemnified; and the Bond be delivered up, accordingly, by the Executrix, to be cancelled.

Ordered, That the Lord Commissioner Fiennes, Mr. John Ash, and Mr. Clement Walker, be indemnified; and that the Bond be delivered up, accordingly, by the Executrix.

Ordered, That the Petition of Joane Langton be referred back to said Committee, to examine what Monies are due, and to whom, and how the Persons stood affected; and whether any Satisfaction ought to be given to them.

Jones' Estate.

Mr. Shapcott reports Amendments to the Bill for establishing, confirming, and settling, certain Lands in Ireland upon Theophilus Jones, towards the Satisfaction of his Arrears: Which were twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Resolved, That this Bill be ingrossed.

Byron's Composition.

Mr. Briscoe reports from the Committee to whom the Petition of Sir Richard Lucy, Knight and Baronet, and Ernestus Byron, was referred, the Opinion of the said Committee: Which was read in these Words:

That, in regard Sir Nicholas Byron, a Delinquent, Father of Ernestus Byron, the Petitioner, died about 1645, leaving the said Ernestus within Age; and that, since he attained the full Age of Twenty-one Years, there hath not been any Persons authorized to compound with him; it be reported, as the Opinion of this Committee, to the Parliament, and moved, That the said Ernestus Byron be admitted to a Composition for the Delinquency and Estate of his said Father: And that the Commissioners for managing Estates under Sequestration, sitting at Haberdashers-hall, be impowered to compound with the said Ernestus Byron, at a Tenth, according to the Rules given by Parliament to the late Commissioners for Compositions with Delinquents.

Resolved, That the House do agree with the Committee in this Report.

Ordered, That the Commissioners for managing Estates under Sequestration, sitting at Haberdashers-hall, be, and they are, hereby impowered to compound with the said Ernestus Byron, at a Tenth, according to the Rules given by Parliament to the late Commissioners for Compositions with Delinquents.

Halford's Estate.

A Bill for providing for the younger Children of William Halford Esquire, deceased, and Payment of his Debts, was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read the Second time on Tuesday Morning next.

Plymouth Ministers.

Mr. Fowell reports Amendments to the Bill for the Promoting, and more frequent Preaching of the Gospel, and better Maintenance of a godly Ministry, in the Town of Plymouth, in the County of Devon: Which were twice read; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

Ordered, That this Bill be ingrossed.

Remonstrance.

The House, according to former Order, resumed the Debate upon the Remonstrance, Yesterday adjourned.

The Third Article was read.

Resolved, That, when the Fifth Article comes into Debate, not only the Qualifications of the Persons to be of the other House shall then be taken into Consideration, but also by whom and how the Persons of that House shall be chosen; and likewise the Powers and Authorities of the other House.

The Third Article being read;

Resolved, That the Words "whole Kingdom" be omitted; and, instead thereof, the Word "People" be inserted.

Resolved, That this Article be Part of this Remonstrance.

The Fourth Article was read; and afterwards, read by Parts.

Resolved, That, instead of these Words, "Roman Catholick," the Word "Popish" be inserted in the First Clause of this Article.

And that Clause, so amended, was, upon the Question, passed.

The next Clause was read.

Resolved, That, instead of the Word "and," next after the Words "your Highness," and before the Words "have given," the Word "or" be inserted. And some Addition being made to this Clause;

Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee, upon the Debate of the House, to pen a Clause, instead of this Clause; and likewise with respect to Scotland, and also for Ireland; and to report it on Monday Morning: Viz. to Lord Broghill, Sir Charles Wolsley, Major-General Packer, Lord Chief Justice Glyn, Lord Commissioner Fiennes, Colonel Jones, Lord Cockram, Sir John Hobart, Mr. Vincent, Colonel Mathews, Lord Provost of Edenburgh, Lord Commissioner Whitelock, Colonel Cooper, Captain Hatsell, Major Audley, Colonel Morgan, Sir John Trevor, Mr. Hampden, Lord Cleypoole, Colonel Carter, Major Aston, Mr. Bodurda, Mr. Williams, Lord Twedale, Sir John Reynolds, Colonel John Jones, Colonel Mountagu, Colonel Blake, Major-General Goff, Sir Wm. Strickland: And are to meet this Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber, at Two of the Clock.
