Monday, 1st of December, 1656.

Private Petitions.

ORDERED, That the Petition of Henry Peck Esquire, of Captain Edward Lister, and concerning the Isle of Axholme, and other private Petitions, be heard on Monday next; and so every Monday during this Session of Parliament.

Ordered, That the Order against printing private Petitions, before they are presented to this House, be duly observed; and that the Serjeant attending this House shall seize upon such printed Petitions, in the Hands of any Person that shall deliver or disperse the same.

Yarmouth Ministers.

A Bill for raising Money for Maintenance of the Ministers in Great Yarmouth, was this Day read the Third time.

And the Question being put, That these Words in the last Clause save one; viz. "according to such Proportions as by the Bailiffs, Justices, Aldermen, and CommonCouncil of the said Town, shall be agreed;" do stand in the Bill;

It passed in the Negative.

Ordered, That, in the room thereof, these Words be inserted; viz. "Quarterly, every Year, by and according to equal Rates and Proportions to each Minister there."

And the Bill, so amended, was, upon the Question, passed.

Ordered, That his Highness' Consent be desired to this Bill.

Probate of Wills.

Mr. Lister reports, from the Committee, Amendments to the Bill for Probate of Wills, and granting Administrations; together with a Table of Fees: Which were twice read; and the same Amendments put, one by one, to the Question.

Resolved, That, to the Division of Northampton, &c. these Words, "the City and County of the City of Coventry," be inserted.

Resolved, That, to the Division of Salop, Chester, &c. the City of Chester be inserted.

Resolved, That, in the Division of York, &c. the Liberty of Crake, be added.

Resolved, That in this Act, there shall be a Saving of the Rights of both Universities.

Resolved, That, in the Division for Worcester, there be added "the City of Worcester."

Resolved, That, in the Division of Devon, &c. there be added, "and the County of the said City."

Resolved, That there shall be one Register for Brecon and Radnor, one for Glamorgan and Carmarthen, and one for Pembroke and Cardigan.

Resolved, That there shall be one Register for the Counties of Montgomery, Denbigh, and Flint.

Resolved, That there shall be one Register for the Counties of Merioneth, Carnarvan, and Anglesey.

Resolved, That in the Clause for the Register of Counties to be Register of the Cities and Towns that are Counties within the same, these Words be added, "except for the City of London."

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee, That the Place for the Register of Surrey shall be at Guilford;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

So it was resolved, That the Place for the Register of Surrey shall be at Guilford.

Ordered, That the Debate on these Amendments be adjourned till To-morrow Morning.

Resolved, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee, on Thursday next, upon the Bill for Uniting Ireland into one Commonwealth with England, next after the Bill for the Highways is read.

Ld. Cobhame's Estate.

Ordered, That the Bill to enable the Lord Cobhame to pay his Debts be read To-morrow Morning.

Ordered, That the Bill for Serges and Perpetuanas be read on Friday Morning next.

Laying Actions.

Ordered, That the Bill for Trial of Actions in the proper Counties be read on Wednesday next.

Civil Law.

Ordered, That Captain Baines, Mr. Fothergill, Alderman Foote, Sir Richard Lucy, Colonel John Jones, Mr. Carey, Colonel Wilton, Colonel Wood, Mr. Hildesley, Colonel Timbs, Colonel Hawkesworth, Colonel Salmon, Mr. Marbury, Judge Advocate Whaley, Sir John Reynolds, Mr. Audley, Major Aston, Colonel Edwards, Mr. Cole, Colonel Whitham, Mr. Bond, Colonel Michell, Lord Commissioner Fiennes, Lord Commissioner Lisle, Lord Lambert, Mr. Margetts, Lord Cleypoole, Colonel P. Jones, Sir Richard Onsloe, be added to the Committee, to whom the Petition of the Doctors of the Civil Law was referred.

The humble Petition of the University of Oxon was this Day read.

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the Petition for the Professors of the Civil Law is referred.

Ordered, That the Bill for the Regulation of Jurors be read on Wednesday Morning next.

Resolved, That the Bill against Gaming, and the Report touching Bibles, be brought in on Friday Morning next.
