Saturday, the 29th of November, 1656.

Plymouth Vicarage.

A BILL enabling the Patrons and Vicars of Plymouth for the Time being, to lease certain Houses, Parcel of the Vicarage there, at Rack-Rents, was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read the Second time on Tuesday Morning next.

Popish Recusants.

A Bill for Discovering, Convicting, and Suppressing of Popish Recusants, was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read the Second time on Wednesday Morning next.

Northern Borders.

A Bill for the better Suppressing of Thefts upon the Borders of England and Scotland, and securing the good and honest People against all Felonies, and other Misdemeanors, was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read the Second time upon Thursday Morning next.

Admiralty Jurisdiction.

A Bill, declaring the Jurisdiction of the Court of Admiralty in Foreign Contracts, and to be of Record, was this Day read the First time.

The Question being put, That this Bill be rejected;

The House was divided.

The Noes went forth.

So it was resolved, That this Bill be rejected.

Union with Ireland.

Resolved, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee of the whole House, upon the Bill for Uniting Ireland into one Commonwealth with England, on Monday next, at Ten of the Clock.

Isle of Eley.

Resolved, That Lord Commissioner Whitelock, Mr. Pedley, be added to the Committee for the Bill for the Isle of Eley.

Creditors, &c.

Resolved, That the Bill for Creditors and Prisoners be read on Tuesday next.

Irish Affairs.

Resolved, That Colonel Cooper be added to the Committee for Ireland.

Highways.

Resolved, That the Bill for repairing Highways be brought in on Thursday next.

Confirming Sales.

Ordered, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Bill for Confirmation of Sales, on Friday next.

Leicester Hospital.

Resolved, That the Bill for the Hospital of Leicester be read on Tuesday next, the First time.

Fish Trade.

Resolved, That the Bill for Liberty to transport Fish in Foreign Bottoms be read on Saturday next.

Deane Forest.

Resolved, That the Bill concerning Deane Forest be read on Saturday next.

Privilege.

The House being informed, that William Morgan, who caused Mr. Aston to be served with a Subpæna, was at the Door;

He was called in; and, being asked, Whether he directed a Subpæna to be taken out against Mr. Aston, he saith, He did; but did endeavour to learn whether there were any Privilege in that Case; and could not learn, since the Self-denying Ordinance, there was any; but gave Order, that he, who served it, should do it in a civil Manner; and that no Process of Contempt should go forth: If he hath done any thing against the Privilege of the Parliament, whereof he was tender as his Life, he doth submit to Mercy.

Resolved, That, upon the humble Acknowledgment made at the Bar, and desire of Mercy, he be discharged.

Resolved, That Wm. Chitmill, who served the Subpæna, be discharged.

Resolved, That these Persons be discharged, on paying their Fees.
