Tuesday, the 8th of November, 1653.

Assessment.

THE House, according to former Order, resumed the Debate upon the Bill for an Assessment, towards the Maintenance of the Armies and Navies of this Commonwealth.

Resolved, That the Sum to be raised by this Bill shall be One hundred and Twenty thousand Pounds by the Month.

Resolved, That this Assessment shall be for Six Months.

The humble Petition of the Inhabitants of the County of Pembroke, was this Day read.

The humble Petition of the Mayor, Aldermen, Burgesses, and Inhabitants within the Town of Kingston upon Hull, was this Day read.

The Question being put, That this Sum be divided among the several Counties, according to the last Act;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

Captain Howard, Tellers for the Yeas: 50.
Sir Anth. Ashley Cooper, With the Yeas,
Colonel Jones, Tellers for the Noes: 27.
Sir Charles Wolsley, With the Noes.

So it was Resolved, That this Sum be divided among the several Counties, according to the last Act.
