Carteret's Petition.

THE Petition of Doctor Philip Carteret, AdvocateGeneral to the Army in Ireland, was this Day read.

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Committee for the Army, to consider of the Business; and report the same, with their Opinion, to the House.

Fines on Bills, &c.

The Question being put, That the General Words in the Act, intituled, An Act for taking away Fines upon Bills, Declarations, and Original Writs, do extend to take away the Fines upon Writs of Covenant, and Writs of Entry;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

Colonel Clerk, Tellers for the Noes: 30.

So it was Resolved, That the general Words in the Act for taking away Fines upon Bills, Declarations, and Original Writs, do extend to take away the Fines upon Writs of Covenant, and Writs of Entry.

Tenants in Tail.

Resolved, That a Bill be brought in, whereby Tenants in Tail may be enabled to pass away their Estates: And that Colonel West do take care to see the same prepared and brought in, accordingly.

Assessment.

The Act for an Assessment, at the Rate of by the Month, for Months, from the 25th Day of December 1653 to the of then next ensuing, towards the Maintenance of the Armies and Navies of this Commonwealth, was this Day read the Second time.

Petition from London.

The humble Petition of the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and Commons of the City of London, in Common-Council assembled, was this Day read.

Resolved, That this Debate upon this Bill, be adjourned till To-morrow Morning.

Sheriffs.

Ordered, That the Business of Sheriffs be put off till Thursday next.
