Prayers.

REsolved, &c. That the Committee at Aylisbury do pay those Forces now at Abingdon, under the Command of Captain Colingwood.

Ordered, That the Committee, which was appointed for providing and placing able and godly Ministers in the Counties of Yorke, Northumberland, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Bishoprick of Durham, shall have like Power to provide and place able and godly Ministers in the Counties of Cumberland and Westmerland: And

Mr. Hoyle, Sir William Strickland, Sir William Allenson, Mr. Barwis, Sir Philip Stapleton, Mr. Blakiston, Mr. Rigby, Sir Wm. Armyn, Lord Fairfax, Sir William Lewes, Colonel Ashton, Mr. Samuel Browne, Mr. Ashurst, Colonel Bosewell, Sir Edward Askewe, Sir Wm. Constable, are added to this Committee.

Ordered, That Six hundred Pounds be forthwith advanced out of the Arrears of the Earl of Dorsett's Estate, in the County of Sussex, for the Charge of the Countess of Dorsett's Burial, and for Payment of her Debts, and Relief of her own Servants: And it is referred to the Committee of the Houshold, to take care, that, in the Distribution of these Monies, none but her own Servants may receive any.

Ordered, That Sir Christopher Wray shall have Leave to go to the Waters.

Mr. Ellis carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the Instructions for the Commissioners of the Parliament that are to go into Scotland.

A Message from the Lords, by Dr. Aylett and Dr. Heath;

The Lords have sent down the Ordinance for the Commissioners to reside with the Scotts Army, with the Alteration of the Quorum from Three to Two; with an Expression of the Sense of this House in this Affair: They have likewise sent down the Ordinance concerning Oxon, Bucks, and Berks; with one Proviso: They have likewise sent down a Vote for the Sale of so much of Sir William Portman's Estate, as will make Twenty thousand Pounds for Redemption of his Estate, and his Delinquency: They have sent down a Vote for the Adding of Philip Manwaring and Roger Wilbraham Esquires, to be Deputy-Lieutenants of the County of Chester: The Ordinance for Mr. Reynolds to be Deputy-Clerk of the Hanaper; with one Amendment: The Petition of Seven of his Majesty's Footmen, now Prisoners in Elye-House, and Two of the Prince's Footmen: An Ordinance for instituting and inducting Jonathan Devereux, into the Rectory of Gateside alias Gateshead: The Petition of some Ministers of Northamptonshire; and an Order upon it, for the Putting of Frederick Schloer into the Rectory of Ould: They have appointed Monday next to proceed upon the Impeachment of the Earl of Stanford.

The Alteration to the Ordinance for the Commissioners appointed to reside with the Scotts Army, being for altering the Quorum from Three to Two, was assented unto.

The Expression of the Lords Sense in this Business was read; and was in hæc verba, That, in respect of the present Urgency of the Dispatch of this Affair, in point of Time, the Lords have thus passed this Ordinance; and do insist upon the Choice of the Earl of Stanford.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth insist upon their last Vote, concerning the Earl of Stanford.

Ordered, That the Commissioners appointed to reside in the Scotts Army do, with all Speed, repair to the Scotts Army, in regard of the important Necessity of the Affair.

The Proviso to the Ordinance for raising One thousand Horse and Five hundred Dragoons, for the Relief of Oxon, Bucks, and Berks, and the neighbouring Counties; which was for the Exempting of the Members and Officers of both Houses; was read; and assented unto.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth concurr with the Lords, That so much of Sir William Portman's Estate shall be presently sold, as may make up the Sum of Twenty thousand Pounds, for the Redemption of his Estate, and Delinquency.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee of the West, to name Commissioners to put this Vote in present Execution.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the West, to afford unto the Town of Taunton some Relief, out of the Fine of Twenty thousand Pounds, to be raised upon the Sale of Part of Sir William Portman's Estate.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Lords, in the Nominating and Approving of Philip Manwaring and Roger Wilbraham Esquires, to be DeputyLieutenants of the County of Chester.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and approve of Thomas Croxton Esquire, now Governor of Namptwich, to be one of the Deputy-Lieutenants of the County of Chester.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

The Amendments to the Ordinance for making Mr. Reynolds Deputy-Clerk of the Hanaper was read; and assented unto.

The Petition of his Majesty's Footmen, Prisoners in Ely-House, was read: And

Ordered, That Answer shall be returned by Messengers of their own.

The Ordinance for instituting and inducting Mr. Jonathan Devereux into the Rectory of Gateshead, was read: And

Ordered, An Answer to be sent by Messengers of their own.

Ordered, That the Committee of plundered Ministers do prepare and bring in, an Ordinance for Settling of Jonathan Devereux Clerk in the Rectory of Gateside, alias Gateshead, in the County and Bishoprick of Durham.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of plundered Ministers, to prepare and bring in an Ordinance for directing and settling a constant Course how, and in what Manner, rightful Patrons may present to Livings, upon the Death or Avoidance of the last Incumbent.

The Petition of some Ministers of Northamptonshire; and an Order upon it; for Settling of Frederick Sclaer Clerk in the Rectory of Ould; were read: And the Order, with one Amendment, was assented unto.

Ordered, That all Fee-Farm Rents, other Rents and Revenues whatsoever, payable to the Crown, out of any Lands throughout the Kingdom, and the Arrears thereof, shall be paid in to the respective Receivers thereof, in the several Counties, by those in whose Hands they are; and are not to be accounted for Part of the Sequestrations, or to be detained by any Sequestrators, by colour of any Ordinances or Order for Sequestrations whatsoever.

Ordered, That Sir Gregory Norton Baronet, Humphry Edwards Esquire, Edward Carter Gentleman, and John Honnour Gentleman, for the Parish of St. Martin's in the Fields; and William Ball, and James Prince, Gentlemen, for the Parish of St. Clement's Danes; shall be added to the Committee for the City and Liberty of Westminster, for the Raising of the Twenty thousand Pounds for the Three Associated Counties of Bucks, Berks, and Oxon.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House hath considered their Lordships Messages: And as to the Ordinance concerning Mr. Jonathan Devereux; the Petition and Order concerning Mr. Frederick Schloer; and the Petition of the King's Footmen, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own: And, as to the rest of the Messages, they do agree.

MR. Ellis brings Answer from the Lords, That the Lords will send Answer, by Messengers of their own, to the Instructions for the Commissioners of the Parliament that are to go into Scotland.

Ordered, &c. That Sir Thomas Widdrington and Mr. Lisle, do prepare and bring in a Commission according to the Instructions for authorizing such Commissioners as the Parliament shall appoint, to audite, and bring to Accompt, what Monies or Provisions have been levied, or received, by the Scotts Army, or any for their Use, in Yorkshire, and the other Northern Counties, since their first coming in to our Assistance.

Ordered, &c. That Mrs. Tope, Mrs. Cotton, LieutenantColonel Lilbourne, Mr. Gosse, and Mr. Robinson, be forthwith summoned to appear before this House; to inform their Knowledge in such Things as shall be demanded of them.

Resolved, &c. That the Matter of the Report made by Mr. Samuel Browne is now ripe for Judgment.

Ordered, &c. That the House do To-morrow, the first Business, proceed to Judgment, upon the Reports made by Mr. Whitelock and Mr. Samuel Browne.

Ordered, &c. That it be referred to the Committee for the Lord Savill's Papers, where Mr. Browne has the Chair, to examine the Witnesses to the Information given in by Mr. Bosevile, concerning Mr. Holles, this Afternoon, if they shall come; otherwise, that they be examined Tomorrow Morning in the House.
