Arthur Clarke of King's Lynn, co. Norfolk, gent v Robert Awborne of West Lynn, co. Norfolk

Abstract

Clarke complained that Awborne had given him scandalous words provocative of a duel. Dr Talbot was due to present Clarke's petition in January 1637; but no further proceedings survive.

Summary of proceedings

On 28 January 1637 Dr Talbot was to give Clarke's petition concerning scandalous words provocative of a duel in court before the Earl of Arundel, Lord Maltravers and Sir Henry Marten.

Notes

Arthur Clarke was the son of Robert Clarke and Elizabeth Walshe, daughter of William Walshe and his second wife Olive, daughter of Mr Clere of Stokesby, co. Norfolk. Alice, daughter of William Taylour of co. Norfolk, married a Robert Auborne.
