Fulham. A messuage and land (extent given) held for his life, doing 11s. yearly to the lord of Fulham for the time being, suit of court there, and wardship and marriage, when it shall happen. The said Stephen acquired the said tenements for his life of William Vigerous, parson of the church of Lopham, and of William Mogge, parson of the church of Weyleye, with remainder to Hugh de Nevile, to hold of the chief lords of that fee by the services thereto pertaining, for the life of the said Hugh, with further remainders to Thomas de Graveshende and the heirs of his body, and to Thomas son of Henry Chamberlain and his heirs for ever, as appears more fully by a fine levied in the king’s court, three weeks from Easter day, 11 Edward III.
He died on Wednesday before Easter day in the year abovesaid. Thomas de Graveshende is his next heir, and of full age. |

The manor, held on condition that if John de Grey, or any one in his name, shall pay to the said Stephen, his heirs or executors, at any term before the feast of St. Michael, A.D. 1339, a certain sum of money lent to the said John de Gray, then it shall be lawful for the said John to enter upon the said manor, to hold to him and his heirs for ever, but if the said John or his heirs shall fail in the said payment, then the said manor shall remain to the heirs of the said Stephen for ever; which manor is held of the earl of Lancastre by service of a knight’s fee.
Chaldewelle and Southmenstre. Lincoln. A messuage in the suburb, where the brethren of the penance of Jesus Christ used to dwell, held of the king in chief, as parcel of the city of Lincoln, as in burgage of the same city, by service of rendering to the mayor and bailiffs 1d., called ‘howsegavelpeny.’
Wylkeford. A messuage called ‘Marihall,’ held in the same manner as parcel of the said city, of the king in chief, as in burgage of the same city, by service of rendering to the mayor and bailiffs 1d. at the feast of St. Michael. Lincoln. A messuage in the suburb, which was sometime of Robert de Basingges, in the parish of St. Margaret the Virgin in Wilkeford, held of the king in burgage, by service of 1d. as above; a messuage in the same suburb, held of the king in burgage, in the parish of St. Botulph, by service of 1d. yearly, as above; 5s. yearly rent from a certain shop, called ‘Ingilbyland,’ in the same suburb, where Joan La Barber sometime dwelt, in the parish of St. Margaret the Virgin, held of the king, as in burgage of the same city, by service of 1d., as above; a messuage, called ‘Louthburghhouse,’ in the same suburb, in the parish of St. Margaret the Virgin, held of the king, as in burgage of the same city, by service of 1d., as above; a messuage in the same suburb called ‘Carterland,’ in the cemetery of the church of St. Margaret in Wylkeford, held of the king, as in burgage of the same city, by service of 1d., as above; 14s. yearly rent from a messuage of William de Hacheton in the parish of St. Margaret the Virgin, in the same suburb, where the said William dwells, held of the king, as in burgage of the same city, service unknown; two messuages in the same parish, lying between the tenement of William Hakethton and the tenement which sometime was of Robert Basingges, held of the king, as in burgage of the same city, by service of 1d. yearly, as above; a messuage, called ‘Blytonland,’ in the same suburb, in the parish of St. Botolph in Wylkeford, held of the king, as in burgage of the same city, by service of 1d. yearly, as above; and a messuage, called ‘Ingilbyland,’ in the parish of St. Margaret the Virgin, in the same suburb, held of the king, as in burgage of the same city, by service of 1d. yearly, as above. A messuage and lands (extent given), of which he was enfeoffed jointly with Amice his wife, held of the king in chief, by knight’s service, by fine levied in the king’s court with the king’s licence, to hold to the said John and Amice and the heirs male of their bodies, for which 11s. is paid yearly to the countess of Lincoln; 80a. arable held of the prior of St. Katherine’s without Lincoln by service of 20d. yearly; and 6a. meadow held of the said prior, service unknown. Braunston. 30a. arable and 4a. meadow, held of William de Eyncourte, knight, by service of 3d. at the feast of St. Michael. Wassingburgh. 12a. meadow held of John, duke of Britanny, service unknown; and turbary worth 2s. yearly, tenure unspecified. Refham by Lincoln. 12s. yearly rent, with the advowson of the church, held of Ralph de Neyvill, knight, by knight’s service. Langeledenham. Two messuages, lands and rent (extent given), held of John, duke of Britanny, by knight’s service; two messuages and three bovates held of the prior of St. John of Jerusalem by service of 3s. yearly; a messuage and two bovates of arable land held of Robert Colvyll, knight, by knight’s service; and 3a. meadow held of the same [Robert]. Wellingour. A messuage, 60a. land, and 3a. meadow, in the hands of Simon Greyne, a bondman of the said John, held of Henry, earl of Lancaster, by knight’s service; and a messuage, lands, rent, and a windmill (extent given), held of the said earl of Lancaster by knight’s service.
