DERBY. Inq. Monday after St. John ante Portam Latinam, 10 Edward II.
Sandiacre. Two parts of a messuage, 16a. arable, and 2a. meadow, held of the king in chief by service of 6s. 8d. to be paid yearly to the sheriff of Derby for the king’s use.

Writ of plenius certiorari to enquire what lands, &c. not mentioned in previous inquisitions the said Robert held in the city of London and its suburb, 10 December, 10 Edward II.
LONDON. Inq. held at the church of St. Dunstan by the New Temple, 14 December, 10 Edward II.
Fleet Street in the suburb of London. A tenement with a garden by the church of St. Dunstan, held of the king in chief by service of rendering 1d. yearly to the king by the hands of the sheriffs of London. He held no other lands in the said city or suburb.

Forest of Dene. The office of forester to be kept in person with bow and arrows.
Abbanhal and Micheldene manor. A messuage, 140a. arable in demesne, 6a. wood, a water-mill, 40s. rent of assize, six bondmen, etc., and the advowson of the church of Abbanhal.
All held of the king in chief by 30s. rent yearly at Newenham.

Le Okes by Bromyard. A moiety of a messuage, 21a. arable, 1/2a. meadow and 6s. rent, held of the king in chief by service of conducting the king’s treasure from Hereford to London, taking 12d. per day in going, and he ought to summon the bishop of Hereford at Bromyard whenever the king shall implead the bishop.

Joan the wife of David earl of Athol (Adtholie), aged 24, and Elizabeth her sister, aged 16, sisters of John Comyn father of the said Aymer, are his next heirs.

Kekyngwyke. A messuage, 1 1/2 carucate of land and 6a. meadow, and the advowson of the chapel, held by service of 1/2 knight’s fee.
Wych. 8s. yearly rent held by service of … knights’ fee.
All held of the earl of Warwick, and they are in the king’s wardship by reason of the minority of the earl’s heir.

[NORTHUMBERLAND.] Inq. taken at Baumburgh, on Sunday before St. Luke, 10 Edward II.
Bradford. The manor, held of the king in chief by service of finding a man, armed with haqueton, hauberk, bacinet, lance and knife (cuttell’) upon an unbarded horse, in war with the king for forty days at his own costs, and rendering 13s. 4d. yearly for the guard of the castle of Baumburg, and doing one suit at the county (court) of Northumberland every six weeks.

A messuage, 50a. land, a water-mill, and 10s. yearly rent, held of the king in chief by service of 1/8 knight’s fee and rendering 4d. yearly to the king for fines of the county; which the said Adam in full life gave by charter to Walter de Osgodeby his brother, his heirs or assigns.
Ulfschelf. 18a. land held of the fee of St. Peter’s, York, by service of 1d. yearly.
Yapum. Six marks yearly rent held by fealty of Robert de Totale, other services unknown.

Newton Reynye (extent given), held of the king in chief, by service of finding in the king’s Scotch war a horseman on a horse worth 40s., armed with corselet, iron cap, lance and sword, remaining for forty days with the king’s body.

WESTMORELAND. Inq. Monday after SS. Philip and James, 10 Edward II. (defaced).
Louther. Four messuages and … bovates of land, held of Roger, son and heir of Sir Robert de Clyfford, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by service of 13s. 4d. for cornage; and 2 messuages and 6 bovates of land, held of the prior, &c. of Watton by service of 8d. for cornage.
Thirneby. A plot of land called ‘Tranterne’ held of Henry de Haverington by service of 1d. yearly, worth 40s. yearly, which are paid to the nuns of Keldholme as dry rent, time out of mind.

The manor sometime held of John de Furneaux by service of a knight’s fee, but long before his death the said John de Knovil enfeoffed John de Taleford and David Anselm thereof to hold to them and their heirs, excepting 1d. rent and the services of Cristine Pruwet arising from a messuage and 1 virgate of land in Baryngton.

MONMOUTH. Memorandum [from the escheator].
The same John held certain lands, &c. in Radewyk and Magor, of which he can as yet have no inquisition, because they are in the marches of Wales and without the bounds of any county.
Writ to the escheator wondering that certain lands, &c. in the marches of Wales of which the said John was seised have not yet been taken into the king’s hand, and ordering him to do so without delay or to signify the reason why, 30 April, 10 Edward II.

Radewyk. He (the escheator) went to certain lands, &c. which the said John held of the king in chief by knight’s service, as appears by inquisitions taken after the death of Gilbert de Knovill his father, and by rolls and other memoranda of the exchequer, and found there Roger de Sancto Mauro, asserting himself to be steward of Thomas, earl of Norfolk and Marshal of England, in the parts of Stroguil, who maintained himself there by force, and would not permit him to execute his office.

The bailiwick of keeping the king’s forest of Rutland (Rot’), held of the king in chief rendering 40s. yearly at the king’s exchequer by the hands of the sheriff for groves (pro brullo) of the same forest
Alice his daughter, whom John Hakelut [alias Hakeleut] married, aged 16 and more, is his next heir.

Aythelaxton. A messuage and 2 carucates of land, held jointly by the said Theobald and Cecily late his wife, by the enfeoffment of Thomas de Nevill to them and the heirs of the said Theobald, whereof two parts of the said messuage and 3 virgates of land are held of the manor of Rotheleye, (which is) in the hands of the Hospitallers of the king’s gift by the forfeiture of the Templars, in free socage by service of 3s., and the third part of the messuage and 5 virgates of land are held of John de Bakepuz, knight, by service of a pair of gilt spurs or 6d. yearly, and for 1/4 knight’s fee.

Weveryngge. Two marks yearly rent held of the king in chief by service of finding in the king’s army in Wales a horse with sack and pin (brochia) value 5s., to aid in bearing thither the king’s scullery (squyleryam).
Boctene Monchenesy. Two parts of the manor held of Sir Aymer de Valencia, earl of Panebrok, by service of 1/3 knight’s fee.
Hugham. Two parts of the manor held of Bartholomew de Badlesmere by service of two parts of a knight’s fee.
Warresius (?) aged 10, son of Helen, one of the daughters of Beatrice Bourne, aunt of the said Robert, and Benedicta, aged 24, another of the daughters of the said Beatrice, whom John de Schel[vin]gge married, are next heirs of the said Robert.

Chekenhull. The reversion of a tenement called Chekenhull (extent given), held of the abbot of Hide in free socage, by service of 13s. 4d. yearly, which tenement the said Hugh assigned to Roberge his wife, before he married her, for her whole dower.
