Writ to the sheriff of Stafford, on the complaint of Margery, daughter and one of the heirs of the said William, who held of the king in chief, that whereas the king lately took her homage and commanded the sheriff, in the presence of Henry de Bray, to cause the manor of Waleshale, which was the said William’s, to be extended, and full seisin of her pourparty to be made to her, the sheriff has not yet assigned her the said pourparty in full; wherefore he is commanded to proceed in person to the manor and assign to her what he finds to be in arrear of her pourparty, or signify the cause why he has not done so; 16 April, 5 Edw. I.
Endorsed [by the sheriff]. 2 1/2(?)a. land which the abbot of Hales holds, in Waleshale, and 2a. land which William de Schelfhal holds in Schelfhul, whereof William le Rus, father of the said Margery, was seised on the day he died, and which are contained within the pourparty of the said Margery, are in arrear to her; whereof he has not dared to give her seisin because the said abbot and William are enfeoffed thereof by charters of William de Morteyn which they have, and they have been in peaceful seisin for 6 years and more.
