Upon reading the Petition of Jane Rookes, Wife of John Rookes; desiring, "that there may be One Hundred and Fifty-six Pounds Yearly allotted her for her Maintenance, according to her Husband's Agreement."
It is Ordered, That John Rookes shall have a Copy of this Petition, and return his Answer to this House, why the Petition should not be granted.
Author, &c. of a Paper called Every Man's Care, to be discovered.
This Day a Paper was brought in, intituled, "Every Man's Case, or a Brotherly Support to Mr. Larner, Prisoner in the Newe Prison in Mayden Lane."
It is Ordered, That the Master and Wardens of the Company of Stationers shall use their best Endeavours to find out the Author and Printer of this scandalous Paper.
Rieault to compound for his Father's Estate.
Upon reading the Petition of Peter Ricaut Esquire, for and on the Behalf of Sir Peter Rycault Knight, a Merchant of Lond. his Father, "That his Father, being ill in France, cannot come over in Person to compound for his Estate; therefore he desires he may have Leave to compound for his Father's Estate, or that his Father may have a Month's Time to come in, and make his own Composition."
It is Ordered, That this Petition be sent down to the House of Commons, that the Petitioner may be permitted to compound for his Father's Estate.

That the House of Commons will send an Answer, by Messengers of their own, to the Petition of the Earl of North'ton.
Major Basse's Ordinance.
An Ordinance concerning Major Basse, was this Day brought in, and read; and approved of, and Ordered to be sent to the House of Commons for their Concurrence.
Ingle and Ford versus Cornwallis.
Ordered, That the Cause between Mary Foord and Cornwallis, and likewise the Cause of Ingle and Cor'wallis, shall be heard the 15th Day of May next, by Counsel on both Sides.
Ordinance to continue the Committee of the Isle of Wight.
An Ordinance concerning the Continuance of the Committee of the Isle of Wight, was read; and approved of, and Ordered to be sent to the House of Commons for Concurrence.
Sir J. Worstenholm's Ordinance.
An Ordinance concerning Sir John Wortenholme, was read, and passed; and Ordered to be sent to the House of Commons for their Concurrence.
Brooke and Webb in Error.
Ordered, That Brooke shall assign Errors, in a Writ of Errors depending in this House between Brooke and Webb, by this Day Sevennight.
Fitzakerley and Fenton, D°.
Ordered, That Fitzacre' shall assign Errors this Day Sevennight, in the Writ of Error between Fatzacre' and Fenton.
Slepper and Cooke, D°.

Ordinance for Hall to be Rector of Beverston.
The Ordinance for presenting Hall to the Rectory of Beverston, in the County of Gloucester, was read the Third Time, and Agreed to.
Collier to be instituted to Somerville.
Ordered, That Sir Nathaniell Brent shall admit, by Way of Resignation, of the Rectory of Somervile Aston from Richard Davis Clerk, and to give Institution and Induction; upon the Great Seal's Presentation, to Giles Collier (Minister of the Word) for that Place and People.
Captain Somarster arrested.
Ordered, That Captain Henry Somarster, who is arrested for Debt, there being Eight Hundred Pounds owing to him by the State for his Service, shall be brought before the Lords in Parliament on Thursday Morning next; and then this House will give further Directions therein.
Ordinance for passing Things under the Great Seal.
An Ordinance was presented to this House, for passing Things under the Great Seal, as usually passed by Warrant of the Committee of the Revenue; and read, and Ordered to be taken into Consideration on Thursday Morning next.
Ly. F. Tufton, a Pass.
Ordered, That a Pass shall be granted, for the Lady Francis Tufton, Daughter to John Earl of Thanett, to pass to The Bath, with a Coach and Four Horses, Three Women, a Child, and Two Men.
Thompson released.
Ordered, That Francis Thompson, imprisoned at the the Suit of Henry Stacie, shall be released, and set at Liberty presently.
L. Lieutenant of Ireland, to be authorized to raise Forces for that Service.
The Earl of Northumb. reported a Paper from the Committee of both Kingdoms:
"Die Martis, 28 Die Aprilis, 1646.
"At a Committee of the Lords and Commons that are of the Committee of both Kingdoms.
"Ordered, That it be reported to both Houses, That the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland may have Power given him to raise such Forces as are already voted to be raised for the Service of Ireland, and to give Commissions to the Officers of them.
"Gualter Frost,
"Secretary to the same Committee."
Ordered, That this House approves of this Report.
Major Saunders's Petition.
Upon reading the Petition of Major Saunders: It is Ordered, To be respited until he produce a Certificate from the Commissioners for Accompts, what is owing to him from the State.
Ordinance for Ashley to be Minister of Solyhill.
The Ordinance for Giles Ashly to be Minister of the Church of Solihull, was read the Third Time, and Agreed to.
Ld. Petre's Petition about the Sequestration of his Estate.
The Lord Peter's Petition was read, concerning his Desire to be heard touching the Sequestration of his Estate.
And it is Ordered, To be communicated to the House of Commons, that it may be referred to the Lords and Commons for Sequestrations, and that a speedy Day may be appointed for the Hearing of the Business.

Doctor Aylett and Doctor Heath return with this Answer from the House of Commons:
That they agree to the Ordinance concerning the Excise, with the Alterations: (Here enter it). To all the rest of the Particulars, they will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.
Message to them, with L. Petre's and Ricault's Petitions.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Doctor Aylett and Doctor Heath:
1. To deliver the Petition of the Lord Peter's to them, and desire it may be referred to the Committee of Lords and Commons for Sequestrations; and a speedy Day for hearing of it.
2. To deliver to them the Petition of Peter Ricaut, that he may be admitted to compound for his Father's Delinquency.
Ordinance for the Excise.
"Be it Ordained, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That, from and after the Expiration of the several Ordinances of Excise and new Impost now in being, the Excise or new Impost shall be continued, in all the Parts of the Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, and Port and Town of Barwick upon Tweede, until the 29th Day of September, One Thousand Six Hundred Forty and Eight, to be managed by such Persons, and in such Manner, as both Houses of Parliament shall think fit: And for the better advancing of the Credit of the Excise or new Impost, and for the Encouragement of such Persons as shall lend any Monies upon the Security of the same, it is hereby further Ordained, That such Person or Persons as have already, or at any Time or hereafter shall have, any Grant or Appointment unto them, of any Sum or Sums of Money to be received upon the Excise or new Impost, and likewise all such other Person or Persons as already have advanced and lent, or shall hereafter advance and lend, any Sum or Sums of Money upon the Credit and Security of the said Excise, and have had, or shall have, an Ordinance passed both Houses of Parliament for their Payment or Reimbursement of the same, shall and have hereby granted unto them Power and Authority, and are hereby accordingly authorized, to assign and transfer the said Monies unto them granted or appointed, or by them lent, or any Part thereof, with Interest where Interest is or shall be granted by any Ordinance of Parlialiament, unto any other Person or Persons whatsoever; and the Commissioners of Excise or new Impost for the Time being, or such other Persons as shall be employed by both Houses of Parliament to manage the Receipts of the said Excise or new Impost, are hereby authorized to make Payment of the same accordingly; and the Auditor is hereby required and authorized to allow the same, upon Accompt; provided, that such Person or Persons, at the Time of such Assignment, or within Twenty Days after, make Entry of the said Assignment with the said Commissioners, or other Persons so to be employed for the Time being, and Comptroller of the said Excise or new Impost, who are hereby required and authorized to take Notice of the same accordingly: And be it Ordained, by the Authority aforesaid, That the Committee of Lords and Commons established by Ordinance bearing Date the 31th of May, 1645, shall have all the Powers contained in the said Ordinance during the Term of this present Ordinance; and that Theophilus Earl of Lincolne and James Earl of Midd. be added to the said Committee."
