Lady Paget's Assessment.
Upon reading the Reasons of the Committee of The Savoy, concerning the Assessment of the Lady Pagett: It is Ordered, That this House is of Opinion, that the Lady Pagett doth lend but Twenty-five Pounds.
De La Salle's Letters.
Ordered, That the Packet of Letters, in the Custody of the Post-master, directed "To Monsieur De La Salles," shall be opened, provided there be One present in the Behalf of Monsieur De La Salles, and One for the Commissioners of Bankrupts; that so such Letters as belong to the Lord Bruce, the Marquis De La Ferte, or other Persons, may be delivered to them; and then the Letters of Monsieur De La Salles shall be sealed up, without Prejudice to either Party.
Earl of Denbigh's Complaint against Captain Stone & al.
Ordered, That Doctor Heath is hereby appointed to assist the Lords Committees for the Earl of Denbighe's Business, and to take the Examinations of the Witnesses in that Cause.
Message from the H. C. with Votes concerning Church Government.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Rous:
To desire their Lordships Concurrence in certain Votes, made by that House, concerning Church Government, in order to an Ordinance of Parliament for settling the Church Government.
The Votes were read; and, after Debate, it was Resolved as followeth:
"Resolved, upon the Question,
"That the Minister, and other Church Officers, in each particular Congregation, shall join in the Government of the Church, in such Manner as shall be established by Parliament.
Resolved, upon the Question, nemine contradicente,
"That many particular Congregations shall be under One Presbyterial Government.
Resolved, upon the Question,
"That the Church be governed by Congregational, Classical, and Synodical Assemblies, in such Manner as shall be established by Parliament.
Resolved, upon the Question,
That the Synodical Assemblies shall consist both of Provincial and National Assemblies."
The Answer returned was;
Answer.
That this House agrees with the House of Commons in all the Votes now brought up, concerning Church Government.
Ordinance for Martial Law.
A new Ordinance for Martial Law, was presented to the House; and being read Twice, it is Ordered to be committed to a Committee of the whole House, and to be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning, at Nine of the Clock.
