M'Ewen v. Cameron:

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of David M'Ewen, Writer in Dundee; complaining of Two Interlocutors of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the Second Division, the First dated the 4th and signed the 5th Day of February 1830, and the 2d dated the 20th Day of February 1830; and praying, "That the same may be reversed, varied or altered, or that the Appellant may have such Relief in the Premises, as to this House, in their Lordships great Wisdom, shall seem meet; and that James Cameron, Merchant in Dundee, may be required to answer the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, That the said James Cameron may have a Copy of the said Appeal, and do put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on or before Tuesday the 6th Day of March next; and Service of this Order upon the said Respondent, or upon any one of his known Agents in the Court of Session in Scotland, shall be deemed good Service.

Webster to enter into a Recogce on it.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Relief of His Majesty's Subjects in Ireland being Protestants of the Established Church, and to repeal an Act passed in the Parliament of Ireland in the Thirty-third Year of the Reign of His Majesty King George the Third, intituled, "An Act to remove some Doubts respecting Persons in Office taking the Sacramental Test;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Contempts in Equity Act Amendment Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bernal and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to extend the Provisions of an Act of the First Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, for altering and amending the Law regarding Commitments by Courts of Equity for Contempts, and the taking Bills pro Confesso; and to explain certain Parts thereof;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Norwich & Lowestoft Navigation Bill.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to enlarge the Term and amend the Powers and Provisions of an Act passed in the Seventh and Eighth Years of His late Majesty King George the Fourth, for making a Navigable Communication between the City of Norwich and the Sea, at or near Lowestoft, in the County of Suffolk;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Upon reading the Petition of the Householders of the City of Worcester, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying their Lordships "to institute an Inquiry into the Manner in which the Public Hospitals in England are conducted, more especially into the Nature of the pecuniary Prohibitions by which the Apprentices of regular Practitioners are prevented attending them; the Petitioners being convinced that by removing or reducing these Prohibitions, and by permitting a longer Attendance on such Institutions, a vast Amount of Anatomical and Surgical Knowledge may be acquired, an immediate Decrease in the Demand for "Subjects" effected, consequently the Temptation to "Burking" would be obviated, and the Public supplied with more efficient Practitioners:"

Upon reading the Petition of the Inhabitants of the Union of Skreen and Rathfigh, in the County of Meath Ireland, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying their Lordships "to abolish the Tithe System of Ireland, the Vestry Cess, Church Rates and Fees, &c., and to adopt some other Means of providing for the Spiritual Wants of the Half Million of the Petitioners Protestant Fellow Subjects, more economical and better adapted to the Condition of Ireland, and thereby relieve the great Mass of the People from the galling Pressure of an enormous Ecclesiastical Taxation, with a view of complying with His Majesty's Recommendation "of securing internal Peace and Order which seem wanting to raise a Country blessed by so many natural Advantages to a State of Prosperity:"

Ordered, That the Committee for Privileges, to whom the Petition of George Bryan of Jenkinstown, in the County of Kilkenny, Esquire, to His Majesty; praying, "That his Claim to the Barony of Slane may be referred to the House of Peers, to report whether the said Title be or be not a Barony in Fee, by Writ of Summons, descendible to Heirs General, and whether the same is or is not now in Abeyance between Edward Lord Dunsany and the Petitioner;" together with His Majesty's Reference thereof to this House, and the Report of The Attorney General thereunto annexed; also the Petition of Henry Fleming of the City of Dublin; also the Petition of James Stewart Fleming of Belville, in the County of Cavan, in Ireland, Esquire, late a Captain in His Majesty's Army; and also the Petition of James Fleming of Monkstown, in the County of Dublin, Esquire, in relation to the said Claim, stand referred, do meet to consider further of the said Claim on Friday the 24th of this instant February; and that Notice thereof be given to His Majesty's Attorney General for England, and to His Majesty's Attorney and Solicitor General for Ireland.

Ordered, That Patrick Costello Esquire and Anthony R. Blake Esquire do attend this House on the 16th of this instant February, to be sworn, in order to their being examined as Witnesses before the Select Committee on Tithes, Ireland.
