Dundas & Bruce v. Dundas et

As was also, The Answer of Henrietta Dundas and Alexander Dundas, who, together with Janet Hamilton Dundas, are the younger Children of the deceased General Francis Dundas, and of Robert Dundas of Arniston, Esquire, The Right Honorable Sir William Rae Baronet, of Saint Catharine's, Major General Henry Cumming, Major General Sir James Carmichael Smyth Baronet, and Sir Robert Dundas Baronet, the Trustees of the said General Francis Dundas, as Tutors and Curators of the said Children, to the Petition and Appeal of Wedderburn Dundas, eldest Son and Heir at Law of the deceased General Francis Dundas, Colonel of the Seventy-first Regiment of Foot, a Minor, and Thomas Bruce junior, Clerk to the Signet, his Tutor ad Litem.

Upon reading the Petition of John Cuninghame Esquire, One of the Respondents in a Cause depending in this House, to which David Dickson Esquire, and others, are Appellants; praying, "That their Lordships will be pleased to order that he may be permitted to lodge the Prints of his Case:"

Dundee Gaol, &c. Bill, Leave to give Notices.

Upon reading the Petition of the Persons whose Names are thereunto subscribed, on behalf of themselves and others, Commissioners acting under the Authority of an Act passed in the Fourth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty, intituled, "An Act for the better paving, lighting, watching and cleansing the Borough of Dundee, and for building and maintaining a Bridewell there;" praying their Lordships, "That Leave may be given to affix Notice of their Intention to apply for Leave to bring in a Bill this Session of Parliament, for the Purpose of making some Alterations in the Provisions of the last-mentioned Bill, at the first General or Adjourned Quarter Sessions of the Peace which shall be held for the County of Forfar, it having been considered doubtful whether the said Bill would fall under their Lordships Standing Order, No. 183, requiring Notices to be given of certain Bills; and that thereupon the said Bill may be allowed to be brought into this House:"

Regency Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Alexander Grant and others;

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act to provide for the Administration of the Government in case the Crown should descend to Her Royal Highness The Princess Alexandrina Victoria, Daughter of His late Royal Highness The Duke of Kent, being under the Age of Eighteen Years; and for the Care and Guardianship of Her Person;" and to acquaint this House, That they have agreed to the same, with several Amendments, to which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Labourers Wages, Petition from Nottingham respecting.

Upon reading the Petition of the Artizans and others of the Town of Nottingham and its immediate Vicinity, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying, "That their Lordships will with the least possible Delay amend the Laws with respect to the Payment of Wages, so as to secure the industrious Artizans and Workmen the full Payment of their Wages in the lawful Coin of the Realm; and that their Lordships will protect the honest Artizan in the Remuneration for his Skill and Labour from all the Tricks, Evasions, Artifices and Frauds now practised upon them by designing unprincipled Men, whom nothing but the strong Arm of the Law, enforced by their Lordships, can compel to be just, and to fulfil their Duties to their Servants, the Artificers, Labourers and Workmen, in an honest Manner:"

Reform of Parliament, Repeal of the Corn Laws, &c. Petition from Nottingham respecting.

Upon reading the Petition of the Inhabitants of Nottingham and its Vicinity, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying, "That their Lordships will immediately pass such Laws as shall effectually prevent Members of this House from trafficking in Seats, and from interfering, either directly or indirectly, in the Election of Members of the Commons House of Parliament: That their Lordships will adopt Measures to prevent all Noble Lords from sitting or voting in this House who are in Receipt of Money out of the Taxes; and that they will, at the same Time, repeal all Laws which prohibit the free Importation of Corn; and that they will as early as possible take into their serious and deliberate Consideration the whole Condition of the Kingdom, in order to shew their Desire to redress the Petitioners Wrongs, and to prove that their Lordships do not seek their own Power and Aggrandizement, but the Prosperity of the People at large:"

East India, &c. Trade, Petition from Stockport for opening.

Upon reading the Petition of the Merchants, Manufacturers and others of Stockport and its Vicinity, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying their Lordships, "That at the earliest practicable Period the Trade to the Interior of India and to China may be thrown open, the Monopoly in the Article of Tea cease, and the Right to proceed to and settle in India be materially enlarged; and further, that Enquiry may be instituted into the present Condition of the Countries now subject to the British Crown within the Limits of the East India Company's Charter, in order that such Measures may be adopted as shall most speedily develope the native Resources of those Regions, and most effectually promote the permanent Welfare of their Inhabitants:"

Sir G. Noel v. Rochfort et al.

It was moved, "That the Order made on Friday last, That the Cause wherein Sir Gerard Noel Noel Baronet is Appellant, and Gustavus Rochfort, and others, are Respondents, be heard by Counsel at the Bar on Thursday next," be now read."

The same was accordingly read by the Clerk.
