Crokeys Petition against Smith.

The Petition of Benjamyne Crokey (a Prisoner in The Fleet); shewing, That one John Smith had converted unto his own Use divers Lands, belonging to a Grammar School, in Wootton Underedge, and had caused him to be imprisoned in The Fleet, to stay him from prosecuting against him on Behalf of the School; and informed also against him in the Star-chamber, for printing a Brief of his Bill, exhibited here against him, the said Smith; and praying to have a Habeas corpus, etc. de die in diem, etc. to prosecute a Bill, which he hath now exhibited in this House against the said Smith; and that the Hearing in the Star-chamber, appointed to be on Monday next, may be put off until his Bill here depending be determined.

Smith ordered to make his Appearance.

Ordered, John Smith (whom this doth concern) shall shew Cause, on Monday next, peremptorily, why the said Habeas corpus, etc. should not be granted.

Proxies.

The Lord Archbishop of Yorke reported, That the Committee of Privileges, etc. had considered of the Reference unto then Lordships concerning Proxies (prout 20 Jan.); and they do find by all Precedents, that the Lords who are absent from Parliament by way of Licence, and send their Proxies, are to renew their Proxies every Sestion of Parliament after a Prorogation.

Which was Ordered to be observed accordingly.

Preserving His Majestys Revenue.

The Lords Committees on the Bill for His Majesty's Revenue are to meet on Monday, 26 January, at Nine.

Increase of Trade.

The Lords Committees on the Bill for Increase of Trade are to meet on Tuesday, 27 January, at Nine.
