The Lord Scarsdale reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers of an Act of the Fifth Year of His present Majesty, for repairing, widening, and keeping in Repair several Roads leading to and from Crewkerne in the County of Somerset," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Rougemont and Guy's Naturalization Bill.

The Lord Scarsdale made the like Report from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing John Henry Rougemont and Lewis Guy," was committed.

Malt Bill:

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for continuing and granting to His Majesty certain Duties upon Malt, Mum, Cyder and Perry, for the Service of the Year One thousand seven hundred and eighty-six."

Tress's Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting the settled Estate of Stephen Tress in the County of Sussex, in Trustees to convey the same, pursuant to an Agreement, for the Sale thereof, and for laying out the Money in the Purchase of other Lands and Hereditaments to be settled to the like Uses."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to the Consideration of the Lords following:

Their Lordships, or any Five of them, to meet on Friday the 17th Day of this Instant March, at Ten o'Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodging, near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

American Trade Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for further continuing, for a limited Time, an Act made in the Twenty-third Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, intituled, "An Act for preventing certain Instruments from being required from Ships belonging to the United States of America, and to give to His Majesty, for a limited Time, certain Powers for the better carrying on Trade and Commerce between the Subjects of His Majesty's Dominions and the Inhabitants of the said United States:" and for further continuing, for a limited Time, an Act made in the Twenty-fourth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, intituled, "An Act to extend the Powers of an Act made in the Twenty-third Year of His present Majesty, for giving His Majesty certain Powers for the better carrying on Trade and Commerce, between the Subjects of His Majesty's Dominions, and the Inhabitants of the United States of America, to the Trade and Commerce of this Kingdom, with the British Colonies and Plantations in America, with respect to certain Articles therein mentioned."

After some Time, the House was resumed:

Hops Exportation to Ireland, Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to regulate the Exportation of Hops to Ireland."

After some Time, the House was resumed:

Leslies against Mackenzie and Forbes.

Upon reading the Petition and Cross-Appeal of Abraham Leslie Esquire, eldest Son, now alive, of the deceased John Leslie of Findrassie Esquire, and of Charles Leslie, the only other Son now alive of the said John Leslie; complaining of Part of an Interlocutor of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the 18th of February 1786; and praying, "That the same, in so far as is complained of, may be reversed, varied, or amended, or that the Appellants may have such other Relief in the Premises, as to this House, in their Lordships' great Wisdom, shall seem meet; and that Alicia Mackenzie, Daughter of John Mackenzie in Cromarty, deceased, and William Forbes Merchant in London may be required to answer the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, That the said Alicia Mackenzie and William Forbes may have a Copy of the said Appeal, and do put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto in Writing, on or before Thursday the 30th Day of this Instant March; and Service of this Order upon the said Respondents, or upon any of their known Counsel or Agents in the Court of Session in Scotland, shall be deemed good Service.

Tewkesbury Paving Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir William Codrington and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for paving, repairing, cleansing, lighting, and watching the Streets, Lanes, Ways, and Passages, and Places within the Town of Tewkesbury, and the Precincts thereof, in the County of Gloucester; for the Removal of present and Prevention of future Encroachments, Nuisances, and Annoyances therein; for regulating Carts and other Carriages, and ascertaining the Rates of Carriage; and for widening some Part of the Street called Church Street within the said Town;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Salvidge to take the Name of Tutton, Bill.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Cornelius Salvidge, (now called Cornelius Tutton,) and the Heirs of his Body, to take the Surname of Tutton, pursuant to the Will of Samuel Tutton Esquire, deceased;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

5. "An Act to continue an Act made in the last Session of Parliament, intituled, "An Act to prohibit for a limited Time the Exportation of Hay."

Worksop Road Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Gordon and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers of an Act made in the Fourth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty King George the Third, for repairing and widening the Road from Worksop in the County of Nottingham, through the Towns of Gateforth, Anston, Aston, Handsworth and Darnall, to the North East End of Attercliffe in the County of York, where the same joins the Turnpike Road from Bawtry to Sheffield;" to which they dedesire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Dod et al. Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of William Dod of the Foreign of Reigate in the County of Surrey Yeoman, Richard Burt of the same Place Tanner, and John Bristow late of Reigate aforesaid Apothecary, but now of Newington Butts in the County aforesaid Gentleman, praying Leave to bring in a Bill for the Purposes in the said Petition mentioned:

It is Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be and is hereby referred to Mr. Justice Willes and Mr. Justice Ashhurst, who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill, and after hearing them are to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon under their Hands, and whether all Parties who may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition, and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

M. Stafford introduced:

Granville Leveson Earl Gower, being by Letters Patent, bearing Date the First Day of March, in the Twenty-sixth Year of His present Majesty, created Marquis of Stafford, was (in his Robes) introduced between the Marquis of Buckingham and the Marquis of Lansdown (also in their Robes), the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, Garter King at Arms, and the Lord Walsingham, who officiated in the Absence of the Deputy Lord Great Chamberlain, preceding. His Lordship on his Knee presented his Patent to the Lord Chancellor at the Woolsack, who delivered it to the Clerk, and the same was read at the Table.

Great Torrington Roads Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Rolle and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for continuing the Term, and altering and enlarging the Powers of an Act passed in the Fifth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, for repairing, widening, and keeping in Repair several Roads in or near Great Torrington in the County of Devon;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House."

The Lord Hawke reported from the Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers of an Act made in the Fourth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty King George the Third, for repairing and widening the Road from Worksop in the County of Nottingham, through the Towns of Gateforth, Anston, Aston, Handsworth and Darnall, to the North East End of Attercliffe in the County of York, where the same joins the Turnpike Road from Bawtry to Sheffield;" was committed, That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Robertson against Inglis.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Alexander Robertson, Merchant in Portsoy in the County of Banff, complaining of Two Interlocutors of the Commissaries in Edinburgh of the 23d of February and 13th of July 1785, and also of an Interlocutor of the Lords of Session there of the 3d of this instant March, and praying, "That the same may be reversed, varied, or amended, or that the Appellant may have such other Relief in the Premises as to this House, in their Lordships' great Wisdom shall seem meet; and that Helen Inglis, Daughter of John Inglis, may be required to answer the said Appeal."

It is Ordered, That the said Helen Inglis may have a Copy of the said Appeal, and do put in her Answer thereunto in Writing, on or before Thursday the 6th Day of April next; and Service of this Order upon the said Respondent, or upon her known Counsel or Agents, in the Court of Session in Scotland, shall be deemed good Service.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for continuing the Term, and altering and enlarging the Powers of an Act of the Fifth Year of His present Majesty, for repairing and widening the Roads from the Little Bridge over the End of the Drain next Wisbeach River lying between Roper's Fields, and the Bell Inn in Wisbeach in the Isle of Ely, to the Sign of the Bear in Walsoken in the County of Norfolk, and from Walsoken Bridge (lying over the same Drain) to the said Sign of the Bear, and to Lord's Bridge in Islington, and from thence to the West Ends of Maudlin Bridge and German's Bridge in the County of Norfolk, and from the East End of German's Bridge aforesaid to the West End of Long Bridge, in South Lynn, in the Borough of King's Lynn in the said County of Norfolk, and from Islington aforesaid to Cross Keys Wash, in the said County;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.
