Upon reading the Affidavit of Mathewe Dale, it is Ordered, That the Serjeant at Arms cause Ferdinando Baud to be brought before the Lords, to answer his Contempt of their Lordships Order 3 Maii, when the same was delivered unto him.

Lord Campden introduced.

Hodie Baptist Lord Viscount Campden was brought into the House, in his Parliament Robes, between the Lord Viscount Wimbledon and the Lord Viscount Bayneing, Garter going before, etc. and was placed next below the Lord Viscount Bayninge.

Respect of Homage.

Mr. Attorney, according as he was appointed the 6th of May, declared his Opinion touching Respect of Homage done at a Coronation; videlicet, "That he advised with the Barons of the Exchequer herein, and perused the Records, and finds that, Homage once done for Land held of the King, the Party is to do Homage no more; but as touching Homage done at a Coronation, he finds no Allowance, for these Three Hundred Years, for Discharge of Respect of Homage afterwards. He finds also that the Homage once done is to be certified out of the Chancery into the Exchequer; and that he finds no Certificate of any Coronation Homage: That he sent to the Heralds for a Copy of the said Homage, which he read; wherein he noted that there is no Word for any Land held of the King, as is required by Law."

Re-committed to the Committee for Privileges; and the Lord Archbishop of Cant. promised to shew the Lords a true Copy of the Homage done by the Lords at the Coronation.

Ld. Abergavenny's Bill.

The Earl of Clare reported the Bill for the Lord Abergavenny fit to pass, with some Amendments. The said Amendments were read 1a et 2a vice, and allowed of, and the Bill appointed to be ingrossed accordingly.

Ld. Grey's Privilege.

Watson arrested.

It is Ordered, That one Cutberte Proctor shall be brought by the Serjeant at Arms, to answer his Contempt, in arresting of Oswald Watson, Servant to the Lord Grey, contrary to the Privilege of Parliament.

Message from the Commons, for a further Conference, touching the Liberty of the Subject.

Message from the Commons, by Mr. Secretary Cooke and others:

That they desire a further Conference with their Lordships, at such Time and Place as their Lordships shall appoint, in Pursuance of the former Conference had of late.

Answered:

The Lords are willing to meet them presently, in the Painted Chamber, with the Committee of Eighteen, formerly appointed.

Memorandum, Some of the Commons replied softly, That they were not ready for a present Meeting.

Whereupon the Messengers were withdrawn, and called in again.

Answered:

The Lords, for the better Conveniency of the Commons, have altered the Time unto Two in the Afternoon.

Adjourn.
