Horsley's Petition.
These were sworn, to be examined before the Lords Committees for Petitions, upon Horsleyes Petition; videlicet, John Hawkeshed, Randulph Horsley, John Moore, Elizabeth Henton, Richard Coates.
E. of Bristol at the Bar, requests his Cause may be expedited.
The Earl of Bristol, being at the Bar, humbly desired their Lordships to expedite his Cause, in respect of the Charge that lies heavy upon him, and in respect of his Sickness; and also, that Mr. Attorney would hasten the Examination of his Witnesses, and that some Day this Week might be appointed for Publication.
Produces some Letters.
And his Lordship produced Three Letters, which he desired might be read: videlicet, Two written from the Lord Conway (as Secretary to His Majesty) unto him the said Earl; the One bearing Date the 25th of February 1625, the Other the 24th of March 1625; and One Letter, written from Sir Kenelm Digby unto his Lordship, bearing Date the 27th of May 1625.
Which are read.
The which Three Letters were read accordingly, and presently delivered back unto the said Earl, at his own special Request.
Attorney General to attend.
The Lords considering of the said Earl's Request for the expediting of his Cause; it was Ordered, Mr. Attorney to be sent unto, to be here this Afternoon.

Report from the Committee for Safety and Defence of the Kingdom.
THE Lord Archbishop of Canterbury reported, That the Committee for Defence of the Kingdom me this Morning, where many Propositions were made, which tended to good Effect; yet nothing so concluded as needs any Report thereof.
Asperity of Speech between Two Lords.
His Grace also reported, That an Accident happened at that Committee, of some Sharpness of Speech between two Lords; which the Committee thought fit to be reported to the House, that an Order might be settled, to avoid all Asperity of Speech at Committees hereafter.
The House thought it not fit to have the Words related, or the Lords named between whom they past; but referred it to the Lords Sub-committees for Privileges to set down an Order to prevent the like hereafter. And their Lordships are to meet thereon this Afternoon, at the Rising of the House.
E. of Bristol's Cause.
Mr. Attorney, being demanded by the Lords what Day may be assigned for Publication of Witnesses in the Cause concerning the Earl of Bristol, answered; He hoped some Day this Week, for that Sir Walter Ashton is now come to Town; but could not appoint a Day certain; but he would proceed to examine such Witnesses presently as are sworn for the said Earl.
William Boswell, Batchelor of Divinity, was sworn this Day, ex parte Domini Comitis Bristol.
E. of Bristol versus D. of Buckingham.
Mr. Attorney signified to the Lords, That he and Mr. Serjeant Crewe had been with the Earl of Bristol; and they had agreed that the Earl's own Council shall draw up the Charge against the Duke of Buckingham, upon the Articles exhibited by the said Earl; and that the King's Council will advise thereon, and present it to the House as soon as may be; which the House well approved of.
Bp. of Lincoln's Privilege.
Mr. Doctor Fermerie, Edward Hills, and Leonarde Acton, appeared this Day at the Bar, to answer their Contempt to this House, and the Complaint of the Lord Bishop of Lincoln, prout per Ordinem 22 Maii. And, after long Debate, it was Ordered, William Dalby, Clerk, to be discharged of the Citation, by the Privilege of Parliament; and that he may cause Warde to be brought hither, to answer his Contempt therein. But the said William Dalby is to obey the Inhibition. And the said Dr. Farmery, Edward Hills, and Leonarde Aclom, to be now discharged; but to appear here again on Monday next, to answer the Contempt alledged against them, for the Manner of serving the said Inhibition.
Gardener to attend.
It is Ordered, George Gardener (a Prisoner in The Fleet) shall be brought hither To-Morrow at Nine, to answer an Accusation against him; and that Lane shall then attend also, with his Witnesses.
Sir Geo. Reynolds versus Galthorpe.
It is Ordered, Galthorpe to attend the Lords Committees for Petitions, upon the Complaint of Sir George Reynolds, Knight.
Haines versus Parham.
It is Ordered, The Petition of Thomas Haines against John Parham to be referred to the Lords Committees for Petitions.
