Grants by Collegiate Corporations &c. to the late Queen.

HODIE 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the enabling and making good of Grants, made by Collegiate and Ecclesiastical Corporations, to the late Queen Elizabeth, after the Second Day of April, in the Thirteenth Year, and before the Eighth Day of February, in the Twenty-fifth Year, of Her late Majesty's Reign.

The Names of the Committees for the Conference to be had this Morning with the House of Commons were read.

Moved by the Earl of Arundell, That the whole House (as a Committee) might consider of the Business now to be handled in the Conference with the House of Commons; which was generally agreed unto.

Conference with the House of Commons touching Grievances.

Whereupon, the Lord Chancellor removing from his Place, to his Seat as a Peer, after long Debate, it was Concluded and Agreed, That the Lord Chamberlain shall begin the said Conference; and, That it shall be lawful for any of the Lords of the said Committee freely to question with the Commons, to this Intent only, to be informed of their Proofs of the Grievances, whereof they complain; and, to that End, to enter Dispute and Arguments with them, and to appoint another Meeting, if the Cause shall so require.

It was further Agreed, That Mr. Attorney General shall be assistant to the said Lords Committees, and shall take Notes of the Proofs produced in the said Conference; and, That any other Lord may also take Notes thereof, and confer the same together; and the Lord Chamberlain to make Report thereof unto the House.

At the Return of the Lords Committees from the said Conference, the Lord Chamberlain reported, That the Committees of the Lower House desired to be excused of verbal Information and Disputes, for that they had no Authority so to do; but they humbly desired Leave to return to their House for such Authority, and to meet again upon the same Business.

Message from the Commons.

Message from the Lower House, brought by Sir Edward Coke and others.

That, whereas, at their Meeting for a Conference this Morning, the Lords Committees of this Honourable House desired to receive of them not only all Letters Patents, and other Writings, but also Verbal Informations of all other Matters whereof they had made Use in the Proof of their Grievances now complained of; forafmuch as then, they (having no Authority to enter into Dispute, or to give any Verbal Informations thereof) humbly desired Leave to return to their House, to receive such Authority for the same; they do now humbly crave another Meeting, on Thursday next, by Nine in the Morning, at such Place as their Lordships shall appoint; and they will come prepared to give their Lordships full Satisfaction therein.

The Lords have condescended unto this their Request, and will meet them, at the Time desired, in the Painted Chamber.

Booth one of His Majesty's Grooms Privilege.

Jefferey Passemore, at whose Suit Samuel Booth, a Groom of His Majesty's Courser Stable, was arrested, being, upon Warrant from this High Court, brought unto the Bar, by the Gentleman Usher, to answer as well the said Arrest, as his Contempt in disobeying the Warrant sent by the Master of the Horse, for his Appearance before him; he the said Passemore utterly denied, that he knew the same Samuel Booth to be his Majesty's Servant, or that he saw or knew of any such Warrant.

Whereupon the Examination of his Knowledge therein was referred to Sir Robert Hitcham, and to Mr. Attorney General.

And it was Ordered, That the said Samuel Booth shall be enlarged, and his Bonds given for his true Imprisonment (as he affirmed) to be withdrawn.

Warrant delivered by the Clerk accordingly.

The Lords Committees named in the Bill of Supersedeas and Certiorari are to meet To-morrow, at Two in the Afternoon, in the Painted Chamber.

The Lords Committees for the Bill of the Sabbath are to meet also at the same Time and Place.

Adjourn.
