Approved of by the House.
Ld. Treasurer call'd upon to explain himself touching some Words that sell from him.
The House being put in Mind of the Words used by the Lord Treasurer, 5° Aprilis, of a dangerous Plot, Conspiracy, and Combination against him; and, for that the Words were doubtfully and generally spoken; his Lordship was required to name the Parties that had so combined and conspired against him; for otherwife an Imputation might rest upon the House, or some of the Members, there being at that Time, and as yet, a Committee for Munitions, &c. who had taken divers Examinations, which concerned his Lordship as Lord Treasurer.
Whereupon his Lordship cleared the House absolutely from any Combination at all against him; and his Lordship further protested, That at that Time he did not name any Member of this House, nor meant any; which Protestation his Lordship reiterated, saying That, at that Time, he did not intend any Member of this House.
