Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Confirmation of a Decree in Chancery, made by the Consent of the Lord of the Manor of Painswick, in the County of Glouc. and the Customary Tenants of the same Manor.

Judges Opinions reported concerning the Bill proposed to be rejected after the Third reading.

This Day the Lord Chief Justice reported the Opinion of the Lords the Judges, touching the Bill to revive and make perpetual the Statute of 39 Eliz. for erecting of Hospitals, etc. the Defect whereof was Yesterday referred unto them: videlicet,

That, in this Bill, no Provision is made for those Hospitals which are erected in the intervenient Time, between the 20th Year after the said Statute of 39 Eliz. and this present; and also that there are some other Errors; so that they are of Opinion, that a new Bill be made, and this to sleep.

But the Lords considering, that this may prove a Precedent of ill Consequence to let a Bill sleep, after it is passed by Vote; they Agreed, That this Bill, being passed, shall be sent to the Commons, now it is passed here, notwithstanding the said Defect, with the Message hereafter following.

Message to the House of Commons.

Hodie missæ sunt in Domum Communem duæ Billæ, by Mr. Serjeant Davis and Mr. Attorney General:

1. An Act for the Naturalizing of Eliz. Vere and Marie Vere, Daughters of Sir Horace Vere, Knight.

2. An Act for the reviving, and making perpetual, of One Act, made in the 39th Year of the late Queen Eliz. intituled, An Act for the Erecting of Hospitals, and Abiding and Working Houses, for the Poor: With this Message: videlicet,

That the Lords have proceeded in all those Bills which they received from them with such Expedition, that they have passed some, and committed the rest.

They have returned the Bill for the Naturalizing of the Daughters of Sir Horace Vere, Knight, with one small Amendment, which they conceive to be but the Misprision of the Writer.

Bill for Erection of Hospitals, etc.

And they have sent down this Bill for the Erection of Hospitals; wherein their Lordships do find (after the same was passed by Vote) that there is no Provision for those Hospitals which were erected between the Twenty Years after the 39th of Eliz. and this present; the Supply whereof they leave unto their Consideration.

Confirmation of Hospitals and Free-Schools.

The Lords Committees on the Bill for Confirmation of Hospitals and Free-schools are to meet on Saturday next (the 13th of this March), at Eight, in the Painted Chamber.
