The Earl of Warwick reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for explaining, amending, and rendering more effectual, an Act passed in the Twenty-seventh Year of His present Majesty, for repairing and widening the Road from Leicester to Narborough, and from Leicester to Coventry, and from thence through Kenilworth to Warwick, and from thence to Halford Bridge, and from Warwick to Stratford upon Avon, and from Coventry to Martyn's Gutter leading towards Stoneleigh Town; and for supplying an Omission in an Act passed in the last Session of Parliament, for repairing the Road from Leicester to Ashby de la Zouch in the County of Leicester, so far as the same relates to that Part of the said Road which leads from the Town of Hinckley in the County of Leicester to the Town of Nuneaton, and from thence, through the Parishes of Chilvers, Coton, and Bedworth, to Bishop's Gate in the City of Coventry," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Shrewsbury Streets paving, &c. Bill.

The Earl of Warwick also reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better paving and amending, cleansing, enlightening, and watching, the Streets, Highways, Lanes, and Passages, within the Town of Shrewsbury, in the County of Salop," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true, and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Newton, Warwickshire Common, Bill:

The Earl of Warwick also reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for dividing and enclosing the Common Fields, Common Pastures, Common Meadows, and Common Grounds, in Newton, in the Parish of Clifton upon Dunsmore, in the County of Warwick," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents, to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Delaval's Bill.

Fens in the Isle of Ely and in Norfolk, for draining, Bill:

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for draining and preserving certain Fen Lands, in the Isle of Ely and County of Norfolk, lying between The Hundred Foot River and The Ouze, and bounded on the South by the Hard Lands of Mepal, Witcham, Wentworth, Witchford, Ely, Downham, and Littleport; and for empowering the Governor, Bailiffs, and Commonalty, of the Company of Conservators of the Great Level of the Fens, commonly called Bedford Level, to sell certain Lands lying within the Limits aforesaid, commonly called Invested Lands."

MSS Collections of Records to be delivered to the Trustees of The British Museum.

Whereas, by an Order of this House, of the 17th of March, 1731, it was Ordered, "That Samuel Burroughs Esquire, One of the Masters of the Chancery, should lodge or deposit in The Parliament-office the several Volumes of Manuscript Collections of Records, which were delivered to him by the Clerk Assistant, pursuant to an Order of a Committee of Lords, of the 21st of March, 1728, for inspecting Publick Records:" And whereas the said Manuscript Collections have not hitherto been deposited in the said Office, for Want of convenient Room and Presses to receive them: And forasmuch as a general Repository for Manuscripts, Antiquities, and Works of Learning, hath been lately established by Authority of Par liament at Montague House, called The British Museum; it is judged to be more convenient for publick Use, that the said several Volumes of Manuscript Collections should be deposited there:

It is therefore Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Master Burroughs do deliver the same to the Trustees of The British Museum, or such Person as they shall appoint, to be deposited and kept in the said General Repository.

Islington to Paddington Road, Bill.

The Order of the Day being read, for the House to be in a Committee on the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable the respective Trustees of the Turnpike Roads leading to Highgate Gate-house and Hampstead, and from Saint Giles's Pound to Kilbourne Bridge, in the County of Middlesex, to make a new Road, from the Great Northern Road at Islington to the Edgeware Road near Paddington, and also from the North End of Portland Street, cross The Farthing Pye-house Fields, into the said new Road; and for enlarging the Terms and Powers granted by Two several Acts, for repairing the said Road from Saint Giles's Pound to Kilbourne Bridge; and for hearing Counsel for and against the same:"

Several Persons were called in, and sworn, in order to be examined, as Witnesses, in relation to the said Bill.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee on the said Bill.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

Wapping Nightly Watch, &c. Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for regulating the Nightly Watch and Beadles; and better enlightening, paving, and cleansing, the Streets and other Passages, and repairing the Highways, within the Parishes of Saint John Wapping, Saint Paul Shadwell, the Hamlet of Ratcliffe, the Parish of Saint Ann in the County of Middlesex, and the Precinct of Well Close in the Liberty of The Tower of London."

Waugh & al. Leave to amend their Appeal.

A Petition of Allan Waugh and others, Respondents to the Original Appeal of Henry Gillies and others, and Appellants in the Cross Appeal, was presented, and read; setting forth, "That, the Subject-matter in Dispute between the Parties relating to the Right of Election of Magistrates and Town Counsellors of the Borough of Linlithgow, the Forms of the Court of Session required, that several Persons, Members of the said Corporation, who were not immediately interested in the Question, should be made Parties in the Suit, which was done accordingly; but, the Names of those Persons having been dropt in all the subsequent Proceedings, the Petitioners, in their Cross Appeal which was prepared below, omitted to make them Parties; and therefore praying Leave to amend their said Cross Appeal, by making John Frame Elder Flesher in Linlithgow, Alexander Frame, Robert Andrew, and Andrew Paul Fleshers there, John Peables, Andrew Wilson, David Forgie, and William Young, Coopers there, (who were all Parties in the Court below, of the same Side with the Petitioners) Co-appellants in the said Cross Appeal, and by making John Buckney late Provost of Linlithgow, Andrew Buckney Writer in Edinburgh, John Rule Deacon of the Baxters in Linlithgow, John Lawrie Mason, John Montgomery Wright, Thomas White Flesher, Alexander Wardrop Elder Weaver, Edward Spence Shoemaker, James Brown Smith, and James Gilmour, Robert Flood, Joseph Nimmo, and Thomas Frame, Fleshers, and Thomas Brown, John Brown, Alexander Jaimeson, Robert Leslie, and Peter Forgie, Coopers, all in Linlithgow, (who were Parties of the same Side with the Original Appellants in the Court below) Respondents to the said Cross Appeal."

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Terms and Powers granted by Two several Acts, passed in the Fourteenth Year of His present Majesty; the one, for repairing the Roads from a Place called The Red-house near Doncaster to Wakefield, by Dewsbury High Town and Lightcliffe, to the Town of Halifax in The West Riding of the County of York; and the other, for repairing the Road from Wakefield to Pontefract, and from thence to a Place called Weeland in the Township of Hensall, and from Pontefract to Wentbridge in the Township of Darrington, in the West Riding of the County of York;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Then the Lord Chancellor further said,

Then the Clerk Assistant received the Money Bills from the Hands of the Speaker, and brought them to the Table; where the Clerk of the Crown read the Titles of those and the other Bills to be passed, severally, as follows:

"1. An Act for granting to His Majesty several Rates and Duties, payable by all Persons and Bodies Politick or Corporate, having certain Quantities of Silver Plate."

"2. An Act for granting to His Majesty a Duty upon Licenses for retailing Beer, Ale, and other Exciseable Liquors; and for establishing a Method of granting such Licenses in Scotland; and for allowing such Licenses to be granted at a Petty Session in England, in a certain Case therein mentioned."
