John Lord Berkeley of Straton and Samuel Lord Sandys took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes; their Lordships having first delivered Certificates of their receiving the Sacrament, to the Truth whereof Witnesses were sworn and examined.
E. of Lincoln's Bill.
The Earl of Warwick reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Sale of several Lands in Bedford Level, the Estate of the Right Honourable Henry Earl of Lincoln Knight of the most Noble Order of the Garter, and Katherine Countess of Lincoln his Wife; and for purchasing other Lands and Hereditaments, of as great or greater Value, and settling the said Lands so to be purchased to the same Uses as the said Lands to be sold are now settled, and for other Purposes therein mentioned," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents, to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."
Ordered, That the said Bill be engrossed.

Recruiting the Army, Bill.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by the Lord Barrington and others:
With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the speedy and effecutual recruiting of His Majesty's Land Forces and Marines;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.
The said Bill was read the First Time.
Palmers against Jackson & al.:
The House being informed, "That James Fox attended, in order to deliver in Copies of Papers and Proceedings, relating to a Cause depending in this House, wherein Roger Palmer the Elder and Roger Palmer the Younger Esquires are Appellants, and George Jackson and others are Respondents."
Pleadings proved.
He was called in, and delivered the same at the Bar; and attested upon Oath, "The same were true Copies, he having examined them with the Originals in the proper Offices in Ireland."
And then he withdrew.
Glover's Divorce, Bill.
The Order of the Day being read, for the 2d Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act to dissolve the Marriage of Richard Glover with Hannah Nunn his now Wife; and to enable him to marry again; and for other Purposes therein mentioned;" and for hearing Counsel for and against the same:
Counsel were accordingly called in.
And Mr. Prat appearing as Counsel for the Bill;
But no Counsel appearing on the Behalf of Mrs. Glover against it:
Benjamin Adamson was produced, to prove Service of the Order for giving her Notice of this Proceeding; who, being sworn, acquainted the House, "That, on the 15th of January last, he delivered a Copy of the Bill, and the said Order, to Mrs. Glover, at Antwerp; and that she then declared to him, "That she would give no Opposition to the Bill."
And then he withdrew.
And the said Bill was read a 2d Time.
Then Mr. Prat was heard, in Support of the Bill, and to make out the Allegations thereof; and called
Thomas Life, in order to prove the Marriage; who, being sworn, produced a Copy of an Entry in the Register Book of Marriages at The Rolls Chappel, and the Certificate thereof, signed by Doctor Terrick.
And, proving it to be a true Copy, the same was read; whereby it appeared, that Mr. and Mrs. Glover were married, at The Rolls Chappel, the 21st of May, 1737.
Then Thomas Jacks was called; in order to prove Criminal Conversation between William Hollier and Mrs. Glover: And, being sworn, acquainted the House, "That he was Servant to Mr. Glover in 1753; and that, in the Summer of that Year, Mr. Glover took Country Lodgings at Stoke Newington; and that, the said William Hollier being an intimate Friend and Acquaintance of his Master's, he and his Wife were entertained by the said Mr. Glover, and lived with him in the same Lodgings at Newington, all that Summer; and that he has observed several indecent Familiarities between the said Mr. Hollier and Mrs. Glover; such as sitting in each other's Lap, he with his Arms about her Neck and round her Waist, and kissing her; and that, when Mr. Glover has been absent, as he generally lay Once or Twice a Week in London, Mr. Hollier would get up at 3 or 4 o'Clock in the Morning, and leave his own Bed and his Wife, and go into Mrs. Glover's Bed Chamber, and stay there for some Time, and the Door has been fastened on the Inside; and at such Times he the Witness has heard them whisper and kiss, and has heard the Bed creak."
He was directed to withdraw.
Then Mrs. Margery Glover, Sister in Law to the said Mrs. Glover, was called in; and, being sworn and examined, acquainted the House, "That, in 1754, Mr. Glover and his Wife came to an Agreement to part, and live separate; and that the said Mrs. Glover declared her Intention to go and live in France, and requested her, the Witness, to accompany her; and that accordingly she went with her to Paris, where they arrived on the 21st of May 1754; and that, on the 5th of June following, Mr. Hollier came to Paris to Mrs. Glover; and that they expressed great Joy at seeing each other; that they lived together at Paris, in the same House, as Man and Wife, and went by the Name of Mr. and Mrs. Halifax; and from thence they went to St. Cloud, where they took an House, and lived together as Man and Wife, and went by the same Name of Halifax; and that the (the Witness) stayed with them till the 18th of July, when the left them, and came to England; and that she has often seen them in naked Bed together, both at Paris and St. Cloud."
She is directed to withdraw.
Then the said Benjamin Adamson was again called in; and, being examined, acquainted the House, "That they live together now at Antwerp, as Man and Wise, and go by the Name of Mr. and Mrs. Hollier."
Then William Skelton, Register of the Consistory Court of the Bishop of London, was called in; and, being sworn, produced the Original Sentence of Divorce in the said Court, against the said Hannab Glover, for Adultery.
And the same was read.
Then the said Benjamin Adamson was again called in; and produced a Copy of a Judgement of Outlawry against the said William Hollier, in an Action of Criminal Conversation, at the Suit of Mr. Glover, in the Court of King's Bench.
And, proving it to be a true Copy, he having examined it with the Record in the Treasury of the said Court at Westminster:
The same was read.
Then a Deed for making a Provision of Two Hundred Pounds a Year for Mrs. Glover was produced, dated 2d of February 1756.
And the Execution thereof by the said Mr. Glover being proved by the said Benjamin Adamson:
The said Deed was read.
And the Evidence being finished:
The Counsel was directed to withdraw.
Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House.
Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee upon the said Bill, To-morrow.

A Motion was made, "That an humble Address be presented to His Majesty, that He will be graciously pleased, in case He shall see a Necessity of calling any Foreign Troops for the Defence of these Dominions, which he is entitled to by Treaty or otherwise, may have in His Pay, that He would rather choose the Assistance of His own Electoral Troops, on whose Affection and Bravery He can with the greatest Safety rely, for the Protection of His undoubted Right to the Imperial Crown of these Kingdoms."
Which being objected to; and a Question stated thereupon:

The Order of the Day being read, for taking into Consideration the Motion made Yesterday, for dispensing with the Standing Order of this House, requiring Fourteen Days Notice to be given of the Meeting of Committees on Private Bills, so far as that the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for empowering Esther Hanmer, an Infant, to settle her Estates, pursuant to Articles entered into in Consideration of a Marriage agreed upon between Asheton Curzon Esquire and the said Esther Hanmer," stands committed, may meet on an earlier Day than is appointed, in regard the Session is far advanced:

And the said Amendments being made in Consequence of the Death of Richard Bingham Esquire, One of the Trustees, who died since the Bill passed this House:
And Mr. Israel Woollaston, Agent for the Bill, attending, in order to prove the Death of the said Richard Bingham:
And Taylor White Esquire, the Trustee named in the Place of the said Richard Bingham, also attending, to declare his Acceptance of the said Trust;
They were called in.
And the said Israel Woollaston, being sworn, informed the House, "That the said Richard Bingham died on the 6th of January last."
