St. George Hanover Square Poor, &c. Bill.

The Lord Ward reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better Relief and Employment of the Poor in the Parish of Saint George Hanover Square, within the Liberty of the City of Westminster; and for cleansing the Streets, and repairing the Highways, within the said Parish," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Fitzroy Sendamore's Bill.

The Lord Cornwallis reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act to empower the Guardians of Frances Fitz Roy Scudamore, an Infant, to make Building Leases of her Estate in Southwark, in the County of Surry," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents to the Bill, to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Hexham Commons to enclose, Bill.

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enclosing and dividing certain Wastes and Commons, in the Manor of Hexham, in the County of Northumberland," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Berwick Road, Bill.

The Earl of Shaftesbury also reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for repairing the Road from the Turnpike Road at Buckton Burn, in the County of Durham, through Berwick upon Tweed, to Lammerton Hill; and also several other Roads therein mentioned, lying in the said County, and within the Liberties of the said Town of Berwick," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for Sale of the undivided Moieties of divers Manors, Lands, and Hereditaments, in the County of Suffolk, the settled Estate of Mathew Manning Doctor in Physick, for raising Money, to discharge a Mortgage Debt affecting the same; and for laying out the Surplus thereof in the Purchase of other Lands and Hereditaments, to be settled to the Uses therein mentioned."

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for laying a Duty of Two Penny Scots, or a Sixth Part of a Penny Sterling, upon every Scots Pint of Ale and Beer, which shall be brewed for Sale, brought into, tapped, or sold, within the Town and Parish of Preston Pans, in the Shire of East Lothian, otherwise Haddingtoun, for repairing the Harbour of the said Town, and for other Purposes therein mentioned;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

After hearing Counsel in Part, upon the Petition and Appeal of William Grant Esquire, His Majesty's Advocate for Scotland, to which Mary Drummond is Respondent:

His Majesty's Advocate against Mary Drummond:

After hearing Counsel, as well Yesterday as this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of William Grant Esquire, His Majesty's Advocate for Scotland, on Behalf of His Majesty; complaining of an Interlocutor and Decree of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the 11th of July 1752, made on the Behalf of Mary Drummond, only Sister of John Drummond, attained, taking upon himself the Style and Title of Lord John Drummond, upon a Claim given in by the said Mary Drummond before the Court of Session; claiming, amongst other Things, the Sum of Forty Thousand Merks Scots, and the Annual Rent or Interest thereof, by virtue of a Marriage Contract, dated the 5th of August 1706; and praying, "That the same might be reversed; and that the Appellant might have such Relief as to this House should seem fit:" As also upon the Answer of the said Mary Drummond put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

Interlocutor reversed.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Interlocutor and Decree complained of in the said Appeal be, and the same is hereby, reversed: And it is further Ordered, That the Claim given in before the said Court of Session, on Behalf of the Respondent, so far as the same relates to the said Forty Thousand Merks Scots, and the Annual Rent or Interest thereof, be, and the same is hereby, dismissed.

Greenwich Poor, &c. Bill; The King's Consent to it signified.

The Duke of Newcastle acquainted the House, "That His Majesty, having been apprized of the Contents of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better Relief and Employment of the Poor, in the Parish of East Greenwich, in the County of Kent; and for repairing the Highways, and cleaning the Streets thereof," was pleased to consent (so far as the Interest of the Crown was concerned) that their Lordships may proceed thereupon as they shall think fit."

Then the said Bill was read a Second Time.

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to the Consideration of the Lords Committees aforenamed:

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Tuesday next, at the usual Time and Place; and to adjourn as they please.

Directors of the S. S. Company to reduce the Number of, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Burrell and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for reducing the Number of Directors of the Corporation of the Governor and Company of Merchants of Great Britain trading to The South Seas, and other Parts of America; and for encouraging the Fishery; and for regulating the Election of the Governors and Directors of the said Company;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Meynell's Bill: Special Report.

The Lord Cavendish reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, An Act for confirming the Will of Littleton Pointz Meynell Esquire, deceased; and for making Provision for Godfrey Meynell Esquire his Eldest Son and Heir, and Judith Meynell his Daughter; and for enabling Hugo Meynell Esquire, his Second Son and Devisee, to make a Jointure during his Minority; and for vesting Part of the Estates of the said Littleton Pointz Meynell in Trustees, to be sold; and for settling the Residue thereof to the Uses therein mentioned," was committed: "That the Committee have met, and considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, and have found the same to be true; and, on the Examination of Mr. John Alsop (who, by the Direction of Mrs. Elizabeth Meynell Mother of Littleton Pointz Meynel Esquire, and Abel Alleyne Esquire Brother of Mrs. Judith Meynell Wife of the said Littleton Pointz Meynell, drew the Marriage Settlement mentioned in the Bill, which was intended to be in Pursuance of Articles made previous to the Marriage) it appeared to the Committee, that the said Settlement was intended to secure the Estates therein mentioned to the Heirs Male of that Marriage, incapable of being barred by Mr. Meynell: And it likewise appeared to the Committee, on perusing the Will of the said Mr. Meynell, that he gave (subject to some Mortgages, Annuities, Debts, and Encumbrances) all his Estates Real and Personal, and all that he should die possessed of, and all that he should die entitled to, under what Shape and under what Denomination soever, unto his Second Son Hugo Meynell, with full Power to dispose of the same by Will or otherwise; that all Parties concerned have given their Consents to the Bill, to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee have gone through the Bill, and made several Amendments thereunto."

Which Report was read by the Clerk.

And the said Amendments, being read a 2d Time, were agreed to by the House.

Ordered, That the said Bill, with the Amendments, be engrossed.

River Dee, Navigation, Bill.

The Earl of Warwick reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for confirming an Agreement, entered into between the Company of Proprietors of the Undertaking for recovering and preserving the Navigation of the River Dee and Sir John Glynne Baronet, Lord of the Manor of Hawarden, and several Freeholders and Occupiers of Land within the said Manor; and for explaining and amending Three several Acts of Parliament, of the Sixth, Fourteenth, and Seventeenth, Years of His present Majesty's Reign, for recovering and preserving the Navigation of the said River Dee," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Stockton and Darlington Road, Bill.

The Earl of Warwick also reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for explaining, amending, and making more effectual, Two Acts of Parliament, One passed in the Twentieth Year of His present Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for repairing the High Road leading from the Town of Stockton upon Tees, in the County of Durham, to Darlington, and from thence, through Winstone, to Bernard Castle, in the said County; and the other passed in the Twenty-second Year of His said Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers granted by the said first mentioned Act, and for the effectual amending of the said Road," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Glasgow Roads, leading to, Bill.

The Earl of Warwick likewise reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for repairing several Roads leading into the City of Glasgow," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Allen, for Sale of Fowler's Estate, Bill:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for widening and repairing the High Road leading from Northallerton, to the South Wall of the Church-yard of the Town of Thirsk, and from the South-East End of the Street called Finkell Street, in Thirsk aforesaid, to and through the Town of Easingwold, in the County of York, to a Place called Burton Stone, near the City of York; and also the Road from Thirsk aforesaid to Topcliffe, in the North Riding of the County of York;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Message from H. C. to return Ennever's Divoice Bill.
