Message from H. C. to return Napier's Bill.
A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Farrer and others:
To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for confirming an Agreement between Dame Elizabeth Napier, Sir Theophilus Napier Baronet, Archibald Napier, and Edward Napier, the Relict and Sons of Sir John Napier, deceased, touching his Real and Personal Estate, for vesting his Lands and Hereditaments, in the County of Bedford and Hertford, in Trustees, for the better Performance of the said Agreement;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.
Lord Maynard takes his Seat.
This Day Henry Lord Maynard sat first in Parliament, after the Death of his Father Banistre Lord Maynard.
His Lordship took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.
Lord Bernard's Complaint referred to Committee Privileges.
Complaint was made to the House, "That Peter Firbank and Robert Robertson had sunk a Pit in the Common of Woodland, the Soil whereof is claimed by the Lord Barnard; and that they continued working therein, in Breach of his Lordship's Privilege, notwithstanding they were forbid so to do."
And thereupon John Proud being called in, and examined upon Oath at the Bar, in relation to the Matter of this Complaint:
It is Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Complaint be, and is hereby, referred to the Lords Committees for Privileges; to meet on this Day Fortnight; and that the said Peter Firbank and Robert Robertson do then attend the said Committee.
Port of Margate against Dover Harbour Bill.
Ordered, That the Petition of the Owners and Masters of the Ships and Vessels belonging to Margate, in the County of Kent, in relation to the Bill for Repair of Dover Harbour, which was on the Seventh Instant ordered to lie on the Table till the said Bill should be read a Second Time, be referred to the Committee of the whole House to whom the said Bill stands committed.
Bristol Workhouses Bill.
The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better explaining several Acts therein mentioned, for erecting of Hospitals and Workhouses within the City of Bristol, for the employing and maintaining the Poor thereof; and for making the said Acts more effectual."
And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.
And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and made some Amendments thereunto; which they had directed him to report to the House, when their Lordships will please to receive the same."
Ordered, That the said Report be received Tomorrow; and the Lords to be summoned; and Notice given them of the Occasion.
Dover Harbour Bill.
Whereas this Day was appointed, for the House to be put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term of Years granted by the Acts of the Eleventh and Twelfth Years of King William the Third, and Second and Third Years of Queen Anne, for the Repair of Dover Harbour:"
It is Ordered, That this House shall be put into a Committee thereupon, To-morrow.
Adjourn.
