Assuring the Demesnes of Damerham.
Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the assuring of the Farm and Demesnes of Damerham, and other Lands in Wiltshire, according to His Majesty's Grant, and a former Grant made by King Edward the Sixth.
Against prophane Swearing.

Non-Residence and Plurality of Benefices.
The Bill against Non-Residence and Pluralities of Benefices, was this Day brought into the House, by the Lord Archbp. of Cant. the first of the Committees, who declared, That the Lords Committees have met Three Times for Consideration of that which their Lordships took to be committed unto them: videlicet, How, and by what Device or Means, every Benefice in England may be made fit and competent for a Learned Minister; so as, if that may be done, then the Provision, which so may be made, to be joined to this Bill, and the same so to pass. His Grace further declared, That divers Projects, to the Purpose aforesaid, were at such Meetings offered, and divers Opinions then also delivered touching the same; and that, after Two Meetings, it was among the said Lords Committees moved, by some of their Lordships, That the said Lords Committees should, among themselves and of themselves, appoint some Six or Eight, that might further advise and agree which of the said Projects may be fittest to be offered to this House, for their Consideration, if the same might be thought worthy and convenient to be conferred of with the Lower House: To which Motion, as his Grace further declared, it was then among them doubted, that, insomuch as the whole House was originally the Committee on the said Bill, therefore that the Lords then assembled, being but a Sub-Committee, could not under them appoint another Sub-Committee: Whereupon it was put to the Question, Whether the Sub-Committee aforesaid, for the End above-mentioned, should make a Sub-Committee, according to the said Motion; and generally agreed in the Affirmative; videlicet, that the said Sub-Committee should, as aforesaid, nominate of themselves a smaller Sub-Committee, to treat of the Bill and Projects aforesaid.
Confirmation of Fines levied by Arundel of Guarnack, to Arundel of Trerise. Exped.
The Bill for Confirmation of certain Fines levied by John Arundell, of Guarnack, Esquire, to John Arrundell, of Trerise, Esquire, was brought into the House, by the Lord Privy Seal, first of the Committees, without Amendment or Alteration.
To disunite the Parsonages of Ashe and Deane.
Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the disuniting of the Parsonages of Ash and Deane, within the County of South'ton, being presentative and with Cure of Souls.
Holdip the Incumbent, to give Security for supplying the Two Churches with a Preacher, he being inform.
It was Ordered, That Simon Holdip, now Incumbent or Parson of the Two Churches of Ash and Deane, in respect himself, by reason of some Infirmity, is not able to preach, and perform the Charge to the said Cures belonging, as appertaineth; and yet, by the Act abovesaid offered, and likely to pass, is allowed to keep and enjoy both the said Parsonages, or Benefices, during his Life; that therefore he shall presently, with some sufficient Surety, become bound by Obligation, in a competent Sum of Money; unto the Reverend Father in God the Lord Bishop of Winton, within whose Diocese the said Benefices do lie; with Condition, That; when the said Church of Ash shall be repaired, he the said Symon Holdip shall allow Thirty Pounds per Annum to a Preacher, to preach in the said Churches of Deane and Ashe; the Copy of which Bond, whereinto the said Holdip did accordingly enter, followeth below (fn. 1) :

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for Confirmation of certain Fines, levied by John Arundell, of Guarnack, Esquire, to John Arundell, of Trerise, Esquire, deceased; and for settling of the Manors, Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, comprised in the said Fines, upon John Arundell, Esquire, and his Heirs, Son of the said John Arundell.
Lord Lisle's Priviledge. Violett's Arrest.
This Day Frauncys Standish, Under Sheriff of Mid. who arrested Grave Violett, Gentleman, Servant in ordinary to the Lord Viscount Lisle, as was informed, contrary to the Honour and Privilege of this House, and Christopher Parre, an Attorney at the Common Law, who caused the said Arrest, were brought before the Lords, by the Serjeant at Arms attending the House; and there having corporally, each of them, upon their Oath affirmed, severally and respectively, that, at the Time of the said Arrest, neither of them knew the said Violet in any Sort to attend or serve the said Lord Viscount; and also that; as soon after such Arrest as they understood thereof they discharged the Prisoner, and upon their humble Submission, they were by the Lords discharged.

"Noverint universi per præsentes, nos, Simonem Holdip, Rectorem de Deane et Ashe, in Comitatu South. Clericum, et Andream Holdip, de Ash, in Comitatu prædicto, Generosum, teneri et firmiter obligari Reverendo in Christo Patri Thomæ, Permissione Divina, Winton. Episcopo, in Ducentis Libris, bonæ et legalis Monetæ Angliæ, solvendis eidem Reverendo Patri, ant suo certo Attornato, Executoribus, Successoribus, vel Assignatis suis; ad quam quidem Solutionem bene et fideliter faciendum, obligamus nos, et utrumque nostrum per se, pro Toto et in Solido; Hæredes, Executores, et Administratores nostros, firmiter per præsentes, Sigillis nostris sigillatas. Datum vicesimo tertio die Junii, Anno Regni Domini nostri Jacobi, Dei Gratia, Angliæ, Franciæ, et Hiberniæ Regis, Fidei Defensoris, etc. Octavo, et Scotiæ Quadragesimo tertio.
"The Condition of this Obligation is such, That whereas there is Order taken, or to be taken, by Act of Parliament, for the disunlting of the Two Parish Churches of Deane and Ash, in the County of South. and for the repairing of the Church of Ash, being now decayed; if the above-bounden Simon Holdip do, as soon as the said Church of Ash shall be repaired, by virtue of the said Act of Parliament, procure a Learned and sufficient Preacher, to preach in the said Churches, and do give and allow unto the said Preacher the Sum of Thirty Pounds, at the least, of lawful Money of Englande, yearly, during such Time as he the said Simon Holdip shall continue and remain Incumbent of the Two said Churches; that then this Obligation shall be void, and of none Effect; or else shall stand, remain, and be in (fn. 2) its full Force, Strength, and Virtue.
