PRAYERS.

L. Willoughby of P. takes his Seat.

This Day Charles Lord Willoughby of Parham sat first in Parliament, after the Death of his Brother Edward Lord Willoughby of Parham; and took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Messages from H. C. to return Byde's Bill; and the E. of Nottingham et al. M. of Halifax's Executor's Bill, with Amendments:

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Freman and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act to amend several Defects in an Act of Parliament, made in the Tenth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King William the Third, (intituled, An Act to enable Thomas Byde Esquire, an Infant, with the Consent of his Guardians and next, Relations, to make a Contract for the buying in his Mother's Jointure, and to sell a small Estate in Great Amwell, in the County of Hertford; and likewise for the securing and raising a Portion for Barbara Byde Spinster, Sister of the said Thomas Byde; and for other Purposes in the said Act mentioned;) and to enable the said Thomas Byde to raise Monies, and to make Leases, for the Purposes in the present Act mentioned;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Gale and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Sale of the Reversion and Inheritance of the Manor of Morley, in the County of York, together with a Term of Five Hundred Years therein, decreed to be sold, for Payment of Debts; and also for exchanging a Fee-farm Rent of the Co-heirs of William late Marquis of Halifax, issuing out of Part of Leffield Forest, in Rutlandshire, for a Fee-farm Rent of Daniel Earl of Nottingham, issuing out of Hertingfordbury, in Hertfordshire; and for settling the same to such Uses as the said Fee-farm Rent in Rutlandshire was settled;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Then the Amendments were read, and agreed to.

Message to H. C. that the Lords agree to them.

And, a Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Holford and Mr. Lovibond, to acquaint them therewith.

Excommunication too frequent, to prevent, Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to prevent the too frequent Denunciation of Excommunication, in the Exercise of Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction."

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Bishop of Chester reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and made several Amendments thereunto; which he would be ready to report, when the House should please to receive the same."

Ordered, That the said Report be received Tomorrow, at Twelve a Clock.

Robberies in Houses to prevent, Bill.

The House also (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual preventing and punishing Robberies that shall be committed in Houses."

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and made some Amendments; and agreed to Two Clauses, to be added to the Bill."

Which were read Twice, and agreed to; and the said Clauses ordered to be engrossed.

Soldiers, &c. to exercise Trades, and Officers to accompt, Bill;

The House likewise (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable such Officers and Soldiers as have been in Her Majesty's Service during the late War to exercise Trades; and for Officers to accompt with their Soldiers."

Provision in it to be extended to Seamen.

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Lord North and Grey reported from the said Committee, "That they had made some Progress in the Bill; and that it is the Opinion of the Committee, That the House be moved, to order the Judges to prepare a Clause, to be added to the said Bill, to extend the like Provision for Seamen, as intended thereby for Soldiers; and that the Committee may have Leave to fit again."

Ordered, That the Judges do prepare a Clause, pursuant to the said Report; and that the House be put into a Committee, to take the said Bill into further Consideration, on Tuesday next.

Elections in Scotland, Bill.

Whereas this Day was appointed for the House to be in a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better regulating the Elections of Members to serve in Parliament for that Part of Great Britain called Scotland:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House shall be put into a Committee thereupon, on Tuesday next; and all the Lords to be summoned.
