Sir Edward Leighton's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir Edward Leighton Baronet and Dame Rachel his Wife, and Sir William Forester Knight, Father of the said Dame Rachel; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for the better enabling the Petitioner Sir Edward to raise the Sum of Ten Thousand Pounds, charged upon his Estate:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to Mr. Justice Dormer and Mr. Justice Eyre; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Harvey's Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable William Harvey the Elder Esquire, and William Harvey Esquire, his Son, to settle a Jointure, and grant a Lease; and for vesting the Inheritance, after a Term of Five Hundred Years, of Lands in Suffolk, in Trustees, to be sold, for raising Portions for his Daughters."

Byde's Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to amend several Defects in an Act of Parliament made in the Tenth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King William the Third, (intituled, An Act to enable Thomas Byde Esquire, an Infant, with the Consent of his Guardiants and next Relations, to make a Contract for the buying in his Mother's Jointure; and to sell a small Estate in Great Amwell, in the County of Hertford; and likewise for the securing and raising a Portion for Barbara Byde Spinster, Sister of the said Thomas Byde, and for other Purposes in the said Act mentioned); and to enable the said Thomas Byde to raise Monies, and to make Leases, for the Purposes in the present Act mentioned."

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords Committees aforenamed; whose Lordships, or any Five of them, are to meet at the same Time and Place.

Parry to change his Name to Symes, Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable Symes Parry to change his Name of Parry to Symes, according to the Will of John Symes Esquire, deceased."

Sir Thomas Lawley's Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled "An Act to vest the Estates of Sir Thomas Lawley Baronet, in the Counties of Essex and Lincoln, in Trustees, to be sold, for the Payment of Four Thousand Pounds, and Interest, and Two Thousand Pounds; and to vest the Residue of the Purchase-money, if any, in the Purchase of other Lands, to be settled to the same Uses as the Essex Estate now stands limited."

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the same Committee to whom Mr. Harvey's Bill stands committed; to meet at the same Time and Place.

Charlton Parsonage house, Bill.

The Lord Delawar reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Exchange of the Parsonage-house at Charlton, in Kent, and Close thereto adjoining, in Lieu of another House and Lands there," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents; and that the Committee had made some Amendments to the Bill."

Which were read Twice, and agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.

Ball versus Ld. Viscount Lanesborough & al.

The House being moved, "That a Day may be appointed, for hearing the Cause wherein George Ball is Appellant, and the Lord Viscount Lanesborough and others are Respondents:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Wednesday the Thirteenth Day of this Instant May, at Eleven a Clock.

Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Conyers and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for granting an Aid to Her Majesty, to be raised by a Land Tax in Great Britain, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirteen;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.
