Wilson versus Townley.

Whereas Tuesday the Eleventh Instant was appointed, for hearing of the Cause wherein Thomas Wilson is Appellant, and Thomas Townley Respondent:

The House was this Day moved, "That a further Day may be appointed for hearing thereof, there being Hopes of an Accommodation between them."

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause (unless agreed) on Tuesday the Eighth Day of January next, at Eleven a Clock.

Boteler, Leave for a Bill.

Upon reading the Petition of Philip Boteler Esquire, and William Barnewell Clerk, Rector of Watton at Stone, in the County of Hertford; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for exchanging the Parsonage-house of Watton at Stone, with its Appurtenances, and the major Part of the Glebe Land thereto belonging, for Crowberry Hall, and certain Lands near the same:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioner hath hereby Leave to bring in a Bill, as desired.

Clavering versus Clavering.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir James Clavering Baronet; praying further Time for answering to the Appeal of Henry Clavering Gentleman, his Writings being in the Country (upon Oath made thereof):

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioner hath hereby Time allowed him for answering thereunto, until Thursday the Twentieth Day of this Instant December, at Eleven a Clock.

Resolution relating to the Church of England, to be communicated to House of Commons, at a Conference:

The Duke of Bolton reported from the Lords Committees, what was drawn by them, to be offered at a Conference with the House of Commons, upon delivering to them the Resolution of this House agreed to Yesterday.

Which was read Twice, and agreed to, as follows; (videlicet,)

"The Lords, being extremely desirous upon all Occasions to preserve a perfect good Correspondence with the House of Commons, have asked this Conference, in order to acquaint them, That the Lords, having taken into Consideration Her Majesty's most Gracious Speech at the Opening of this Parliament, have, upon mature Deliberation, come to the following Resolution; (videlicet,)

"Resolved, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal and in Parliament assembled, That the Church of England as by Law established, which was rescued from the extremest Danger by King William the Third, of Glorious Memory, is now, by God's Blessing, under the happy Reign of Her Majesty, in a most safe and flourishing Condition; and that whoever goes about to suggest and insinuate, that the Church is in Danger under Her Majesty's Administration, is an Enemy to the Queen, the Church, and the Kingdom.

"Which Resolution the Lords have directed us to communicate to the House of Commons, and to desire their Concurrence."

Message to them, for a Conference about it.

Then, a Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Justice Blencoe and Mr. Justice Powys:

To desire a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber, upon a Matter relating to the Safety and Honour of Her Majesty's Government.

Chute's Bill:

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for Sale of the Estate late of Thomas Chute Esquire, in the County of Warwick; and laying out the Monies arising thereby in the Purchase of other Lands and Hereditaments, in the County of Norfolke, to be settled to the same Uses as the Warwickshire Estate stands settled."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H.C. with it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Robert Legard and Sir Richard Holford:

To carry down the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Silvestre's Nat. Bill.

The Lord Halifax reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing "Peter Silvestre, Doctor of Physic," as fit to pass, without any Amendment.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Peter Silvestre, Doctor of Physic."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Ordered, The Commons have Notice, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Answer from H. C.

The Messengers sent to the House of Commons return Answer:

That the Commons agree to a Conference, as desired.

Conference about Resolution, concerning the Church of England.

Ordered, That the Lords Committees appointed to consider of, and prepare, what shall be offered to the Commons, at a Conference upon delivering to them the Resolution agreed to Yesterday, be Managers of the said Conference.

Then, the Commons being come to the Conference, the Managers Names were read.

And the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference.

Which being ended, the House was resumed.

And the Duke of Bolton reported, "That the Managers had delivered the Resolution, as ordered."

Adjourn.
