E. of Peterborough, Reflections upon in "Remarks on Dr. Friend's Account of the War in Spain:"

The House being informed, "That in a Book, intituled, "Remarks upon Doctor Friend's Account of the Earl of Peterborow's Conduct in Spain, chiefly since the raising the Siege of Barcelona, 1706;" there are contained divers scandalous Reflections on the Earl of Peterborow;"

The following Orders were made:

Leech to attend;

"It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Dryden Leech, a Printer, do forthwith attend this House."

Curle & al. to attend.

"It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Curle, Mr. Sangor, and Mr. Baker, do forthwith attend this House."

Increase of Seamen, and manning the Fleet, Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the Encouragement and Increase of Seamen, and better manning Her Majesty's Fleet."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Wednesday next, at Twelve a Clock.

War in Spain.

The House, pursuant to Order, was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee, on the State of the Nation; in relation to the War in Spain.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Herbert reported, "That the Committee of the whole House had made some Progress in the Matters to them referred; and are of Opinion, That Two Councils of War, mentioned in a Paper, intituled, "The Memorial of the Earl of Peterborow, and Result of a Council of War therein," (be laid before this House) dated 24th August, 1705; which Councils of War are dated the 16th and 22th of the same August, 1705; and also that the Committee desired another Time may be appointed, for the House to proceed therein."

Councils of War to be laid before the House.

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lord High Admiral do and he is hereby desired to order to be laid before this House, the Two Councils of War mentioned in a Paper, intituled, "The Memorial of the Earl of Peterborow, and Result of a Council of War thereon;" (laid before this House) dated the 24th August, 1705; which Councils of War are dated the 16th and 22th of the same August, 1705.

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That on Monday next, at Twelve a Clock, this House shall be put into a Committee again, to consider further of the State of the Nation, in relation to the War in Spain, and the Papers relating thereunto.

Kingston, Briscoe, and Leech, Author, &c. of "The Remarks on Dr. Friend's Account of the War in Spain," to be attached.

Upon Oath made, at the Bar, "That Richard Kingston was the Author of the Book, intituled, "Remarks upon Doctor Friend's Account of the Earl of Peterborow's Conduct in Spain, chiefly since the raising the Siege of Barcelona, 1706;" and that Samuel Briscoe Bookseller was the Promoter thereof, and Dryden Leech the Printer of the said Book:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod attending this House, his Deputy or Deputies, do forthwith attach the Bodies of the said Richard Kingston, Samuel Briscoe, and Dryden Leech, and bring them in safe Custody to the Bar of this House, to answer such Things as shall be objected against them; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

To Sir David Mitchell, Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod attending this House, his Deputy or Deputies, and every of them.

Adjourn.
