PRAYERS.
L. Mordington, Privilege, versus Farrington, for detaining him upon an Arrest.
Upon reading the Petition of George Lord Mordington; shewing, "That his Grandfather was by King Charles the Second created a Peer of Scotland, by the Name of William Baron of Witch-Isle, which Baronage is descended to your Petitioner; in Right whereof, since the First Day of May last, he is become a Peer of Great Britain; notwithstanding which, ever since the said First Day of May, he hath been detained as a Prisoner, upon a Capias ad Satisfaciendum, executed upon him before the said First Day of May, at the Suit of one John Farington (a Sheriff's Bailiff), on Pretence of Charges of a former Arrest for a Contempt in Chancery; which, he humbly conceives, and is advised, is a Breach of the Privilege of Peerage, according to the late Act of Union; and praying such Consideration thereof, and Relief therein, as this Honourable House shall think fit:"
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to the Lords Committees for Privileges; who are to consider thereof, and report their Opinion to the House.
L. Bellew versus Kelly.
Upon reading the Petition of Richard Lord Bellewe, Baron of Duleeke in the Kingdom of Ireland; complaining of a Decree made in the Chancery of Ireland, the Thirtieth of November One Thousand Seven Hundred and Six, and also another Decree, of the Seven and Twentieth of February One Thousand Seven Hundred and Six, on the Behalf of Dennis Kelly and Mary his Wife; and praying "the Reversal of the said Decrees; and that the Lord Chancellor of Ireland do direct a new Trial at Law:"
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Dennis Kelly and Mary his Wife may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and they are hereby required to put in their Answer thereunto, in Writing, within Six Weeks after Notice of this Appeal.
Adjourn.
