Lords take the Oaths.

This Day Thomas Earl of Pembroke Lord President, Charles Duke of Richmond, and James Lord Berkeley, took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Townley versus Wilson et al.

Upon reading the Petition of Thomas Townley Gentleman; shewing, "That Thomas Wilson, Thomas Sheppard, William Claxton, and George Parker, have appealed to this House, against a Decree made in the Exchequer in Trinity Term last, wherein the Petitioner was Plaintiff, against Thomas Wilson and the other Defendants, to which Appeal he hath answered; praying a short Day for hearing the said Appeal; and that the Appellants be ordered to produce, at the Hearing of the said Cause, Three Paper Books in their Custody, concerning the Payment of the Tithes in Question, as were produced in the Exchequer:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Monday the Tenth Day of December next, at Eleven a Clock: And it is further Ordered, That the said Thomas Wilson, Thomas Sheppard, William Claxton, and George Parker, shall produce, at the said Hearing, the Three Paper Books that were produced at the Hearing of the Cause in the Exchequer.

Queen's Answer to Address about the Allies.

The Lord Keeper reported Her Majesty's most Gracious Answer to the Address of both Houses, presented to Her Majesty Yesterday, as follows; (videlicet,)

"My Lords and Gentlemen,

"Your joining in this Address, is a very particular Satisfaction to Me.

"The Opinion of both Houses of Parliament will always be of the greatest Weight with Me. I shall readily comply with your Desire; and I make no Question but it will meet with a just Regard from all our Allies."

Address and Answer to be printed.

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England do give Order, that the Address of both Houses of Parliament presented to Her Majesty Yesterday, and Her Majesty's most Gracious Answer thereunto, be forthwith printed and published.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Topham and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for exhibiting a Bill in this present Parliament, for naturalizing the most excellent Princess Sophia, Electress and Dutchess Dowager of Hanover, and the Issue of her Body;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

Crome's Bill.

Security of Queen's Person and Protestant Succession, Bill.

The Order of the Day being read, for the House to be put into a Committee, upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better Security of Her Majesty's Person and Government, and of the Succession to the Crown of England in the Protestant Line:"

After some Time;

It was proposed, "That it be an Instruction to the Committee, to receive a Clause, or Clauses, to restrain the Lords Justices, to be appointed by this Act, from repealing or altering some Laws now in being, in the Absence of the next Successor out of this Kingdom."

After Debate;

It was Ordered, That it be an Instruction to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better Security of Her Majesty's Person and Government, and of the Succession to the Crown of England in the Protestant Line," * to prepare, and insert a Clause in this Bill, for restraining the Lords Justices, thereby intended to be appointed, from giving the Royal Assent in Parliament to any Bill for the repealing or altering an Act made in the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Years of King Charles the Second, intituled, "An Act for the Uniformity of public Prayers, and Administration of the Sacraments, and other Rites and Ceremonies; and for establishing the Form of making, ordaining, and consecrating, of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, in the Church of England."

Then, after further Debate,

Protest against no further previous Instruction being given to the Committee.

This Question was put, "That no further previous Instruction be given to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better Security of Her Majesty's Person and Government, and of the Succession to the Crown of England in the Protestant Line," stands committed?"

Security of Queen's Person, and Protestant Succession, Bill.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better Security of Her Majesty's Person and Government, and of the Succession to the Crown of England in the Protestant Line."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Stamford reported, "That the Committee had made some Progress in the Bill; and desire another Time may be appointed, for the House to be put into a Committee again, to proceed on the said Bill."

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That To-morrow, at Twelve a Clock, this House shall be put into a Committee again, to consider further of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better Security of Her Majesty's Person and Government, and of the Succession to the Crown of England in the Protestant Line."

Queen's Answer to Address about the Letters from the King of Spain, &c.

The Duke of Bolton reported Her Majesty's Answer to the Address, as followeth; (videlicet,)

"Her Majesty was pleased to say, She returned Her Thanks to the House, for their Address; which She accepted very kindly, and was pleased with the Zeal the House expressed for assisting Her in carrying on what was so happily begun."
