This Day Robert Earl of Scarsdale and Ralph Earl of Montagu took the Oath of Abjuration, and subscribed the same, pursuant to the late Act of Parliament.
Balsal Hospital Bill.
Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the better Government of the Hospital of Balsal, in the County of Warwick, founded by the Lady Katherine Leveson."
The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Message to H. C. with it.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Richard Holford and Mr. Gery:
To carry down the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.
Then the Lady Johnson's Petition to the Queen, and Her Majesty's Reference thereupon, was read, as follow:
Ly. Johnson's Pet. claiming the Barony of of Wentworth:
"To the Queen's most Excellent Majesty.
"The humble Petition of Martha Wife of Sir Henry Johnson Knight, the only surviving Daughter and Heir to John late Lord Lovelace of Hurley, and sole Heir (by her Grandmother the Lady Ann Wentworth, Baroness Lovelace, &c.) to the Barony of Wentworth;
"Humbly sheweth unto Your most Excellent Majesty,
"That whereas King Henry the Eighth, Your Royal Predecessor, in the 21th Year of His Reign, did, by His Writ, directed unto Sir Thomas Wentworth, of Nettlested, in the County of Suffolk, Knight, summon him the said Sir Thomas to be a Baron and Peer of this Realm of England, by the Name of Thomas Lord Wentworth; by virtue whereof, not only the said Thomas, but the Heirs of his Body have ever since enjoyed the said Title and Barony of Wentworth, with all Immunities, Privileges, and Pre-eminencies, to the same belonging, until the Death of Thomas late Lord Wentworth, who died Anno 1664, leaving Issue the Lady Henrietta Maria his sole Daughter and Heir, since also dead without Issue, whereby the Lady Ann Wentworth, Relict of John Lord Lovelace, and Mother to John late Lord Lovelace, Your Petitioner's Father, being the only surviving Daughter of Thomas Lord Wentworth (Earl of Cleveland, &c.) and Aunt to the said Henrietta Maria, became Heir to the said Barony, who is likewise lately deceased; so that Your Petitioner is now become the sole and undoubted Heir of that Barony of Wentworth, as well as the true and lawful Inheritrix of all the Lands and Seigniories thereunto belonging.
"The Premises considered, Your Petitioner humbly prays, that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased to confirm the said Barony of Wentworth to her the said Martha and the Heirs of her Body, with all its Rights, Immunities, and Privileges, as in like Cases hath been usually granted to several Families of this Kingdom, by Your Majesty's late Royal Progenitors and Predecessors.
"And Your Petitioner shall, in all Duty, pray, &c.

"The Queen, having been moved upon this Petition, is graciously pleased to refer the same to the Right Honourable the House of Peers, to examine the Allegations thereof, as to what relates to the Petitioner's Title therein mentioned; and to inform Her Majesty how the same shall appear to their Lordships.

Upon reading the Petition to Her Majesty, of Martha Wife of Sir Henry Johnson Knight, the only surviving Daughter and Heir to John late Lord Lovelace of Hurley, and sole Heir, by her Grandmother the Lady Ann Wentworth Baroness Lovelace, &c. to the Barony of Wentworth; as also Her Majesty's Reference thereof to this House:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioner shall be heard, by her Counsel, and the Heralds, on Wednesday the First Day of April next, at Eleven a Clock; and Her Majesty's Attorney General to attend; and all the Lords summoned, with Notice of the Business.
Etterick's Bill.
The Duke of Bolton reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting certain Messuages and Tenements, in the Counties of Bedford and Middlesex, in Trustees, to be sold; and for purchasing Lands or Rents, to be settled to the same Uses," as fit to pass, with several Amendments.
Which were read Twice, and agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.
Mansell's Bill:
Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable Edward Mansel Esquire to raise a further Sum of One Thousand Pounds, on a Mortgage of the Impropriate Rectory of Llanriddian, for Payment of Debts."

Which were read Twice, and agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.
