Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of John Maynstone Gentleman, Nephew and Heir of William Maynstone, late of Woodberry Hall, in the County of Cambridge, Esquire, deceased, from a Decree of the Court of Chancery, the Six and Twentieth Day of November One Thousand Six Hundred Eighty-nine, on the Behalf of Penelope Maynstone and William Clough; and praying the Reversal thereof:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Penelope Maynstone and William Clough may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and do put in their Answers thereunto, in Writing, on Friday the Seventeenth Day of this Instant February, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Edward Ryder Esquire, Francis Negus Esquire, David Thomas Gentleman, John Cragg Gentleman, William Thomas Gentleman, and William Morgan Gentleman, do attend this House on Friday the Seventeenth Instant, as Witnesses on the Behalf of the Lord Jeffryes.

Newton versus Baller.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That on Wednesday next, at Ten of the Clock, this House will hear One Counsel upon the Petition of James Newton, as also Counsel for John Ballet, as to the Point of One Hundred Guineas.

Oundle, &c. Inhabitants versus Barton.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir John Sommers Knight, Their Majesties Attorney General, on Behalf of the Poor of Oundle, and Three other Towns in the County of North'ton; shewing, amongst other Things, "That Application had been made to the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal, for putting the Order of this House of the Second of January last in Execution, so as to charge the Lands in Barton's Hands with the Payment of the Charity and Arrears thereof; that the Lords Commissioners were of Opinion, That the Order of Reversal doth not fully warrant them to give such Directions:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal do direct, that the Lands in the Possession of the Respondent Barton, mentioned in the Appeal, shall stand charged with the Charity of Twenty Pounds per Annum, and the Arrears thereof, according to the Will of John Norton the Elder, and in Execution of the Order of this House.

Jones versus Beaw.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Thomas Fox, Anthony Philpot, William Thomas, and Evan Jones, do attend this House on Monday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, to be sworn, as Witnesses to be heard at the Lords Committees for Privileges, on the Behalf of Doctor John Jones.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to prevent the Delay of Proceedings at the Quarter Sessions of the Peace."

Discovery of Judgements in Westm. Hall, Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the better Discovery of Judgements in the Courts of King's Bench, Common Pleas, and Exchequer at Westminster."

Towers' Bill.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Manors of Barcrofts, otherwise Thonock, otherwise Low Thonock, Hinton, otherwise Hengton, and other Lands, in the County of Lincolne, Isle of Ely, and Counties of Cambridge and Norfolke, in Trustees, for Payment of the Debts of Thomas Towers Esquire, and making Provision for his Wife and Daughter."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cooke and Sir Adam Ottley:

To carry down the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Advice to His Majesty.

The Order was read, for considering of Heads of Advice to be given to His Majesty.

Then the Heads agreed to formerly by the House were read.

Then the Earl of Bridgewater reported the Heads following from the Committee; (videlicet,)

No Foreigners to be of the Board of Ordnance; and not many Strangers to be employed in that Office.

"That no Foreigner shall be of the Board of Ordnance, or Keeper of Stores in The Tower of London."

"That, for Encouragement of the English, there may not be so many Strangers employed in the Office of the Ordnance."

Agreed to.

Then this Head was read:

"That the Chief Officer of the Train of Artillery Abroad be One of Their Majesties Subjects."

Chief Officer of the Train.

Then this Question was put, "Whether ["a Subject born in Their Majesties Dominions"] shall be in the Head, instead of ["One of Their Majesties Subjects"]?

It was Resolved in the Negative.

The Head was read again; (videlicet,)

"That the Chief Officer of the Train of Artillery Abroad may be One of Their Majesties Subjects."

The Question was put, "Whether to agree with the Committee in this Head?"
