L. Grenville introduced, and takes the Oaths:

This Day Charles Grenvile de Killhampton Chevalier, Elder Son of John Earl of Bath, having received Their Majesties Writ, to summon him to sit in this present Parliament, was introducted, in his Robes, between the Lord Chandos and the Lord Ashburnham; the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, Garter King at Arms, and the Lord Great Chamberlain of England, going before him.

His Writ of Summons.

His Lordship delivered his Writ of Summons, on his Knee, to the Marquis of Halyfax Lord Privy Seal (who then sat Speaker); who delivering the same to the Clerk of the Parliaments, it was read at the Table; and afterwards he was placed on the Barons Bench, in his Father's Barony.

The Writ of Summons.

"Gulielmus & Maria, Dei Gratia, Angl. Scoc. Franc. & Hiberniæ Rex & Regina, Fidei Defensores, &c. Prædilecto & Fideli Nostro Carolo Grenvile de Killhampton, Chevalier, Salutem: Cum Parliamentum Nostrum, pro arduis & urgentibusNegotiis, Nos, Statum & Defensionem Regni Nostri Angliæ & Ecclesiæ Anglicanæ concernen. apud Civitatem Nostram Westm. nunc congregat. existit; vobis, sub Fide & Ligeantia quibus Nobis teneamini, firmiter injungend. mandamus, quod, consideratis dictorum Negotiorum Arduitate & Periculis imminentibus, cessante quacunque Excusatione, ad dictum Parliamentum Nostrum personaliter intersitis, Nobiscum, ac cum Prælatis, Magnatibus, & Proceribus, super dictis tractatur. vestrumque Consilium impensur. This Day Charles Lord Grenvile took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, in Pursuance of the Statute.

Shirley's Bill.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for enabling Hannah Shirley Widow, and Mary Battilhey, alias Shirley, her Daughter, to settle and dispose of certain Lands and Tenements, in the County of Middlesex and Essex."

The Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall pass for a Law?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Monk's Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act to relieve Christopher Monke from a clandestine Marriage, when he was under the Age of Fourteen Years."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of this Bill be committed to these Lords following:

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for the better enabling the Trustees of the most Noble George late Duke of Bucks to sell the Estate of the said Duke, for Payment of his Debts."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of this Bill is referred to the same Committee as Christopher Monk's Bill is.

The Committee have Power to hear all Persons concerned, and to send for whom they think fit.

ORDERED, That all the Bishops be added to the Committee for the Bill for the more easy and speedy gathering of Small Tithes.

ORDERED, That the Lord Jermyn is added to the Committee concerning the Bill for attainting of several Persons now in Rebellion against Their Majesties.

Message to H. C. with Shirley's Bill.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cooke and Sir Adam Oately:

To deliver the Bill to enable Hannah Shirley to dispose of Lands and Tenements, in the County of Midd. and Essex; and to desire the Concurrence of the Commons to it.

Belvin versus Freeman.

Upon reading the Petition of Nicholas Belvin Gentleman; complaining of a Decree made by the Lord Chancellor Jefferyes, the 25th Day of July, 1688, and other Things in the Petition set forth; and praying, that the Defendants may answer thereunto:

It is ORDERED, That the Defendants, William Freeman, Peter Tharpe, Anne Meakins, Jeremiah Dodson, Ric'd Bowles, John Perkins, Thomas Hawley, Wm. Searle, Wm. Hewer, Wm. Wilkins, Elizabeth Mills, John Maulden, Suzan Good, Franc. Threadgeld, and Rob't Willford, may have a Copy or Copies of the said Petition; and be, and they are hereby, required to put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto, in Writing, on Wednesday next, being the 24th of July Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the said Nicholas Belvin is to cause timely Notice to be given to the Defendants, to the End they answer accordingly.

Stutville versus Glenham.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Charles Stutvile Esquire, and Judith Stutvile Widow, complaining of several Proceedings in the Court of Chancery, and of a Decree made by the Lord Keeper North in July, 1683, and several Things in the Petition set forth; and praying the Reversal of the said Decree in the Points complained of; and that the Defendants may answer thereunto:

It is ORDERED, That the Lady Glemham, Sir William Rawsterne, and Thomas Owinby, may have a Copy or Copies of the said Petition and Appeal; and be, and are hereby, required to put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto, in Writing, on Saturday the 27th of July Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the Petitioners are to cause timely Notice to be given to the Defendants herein named, to the End they answer accordingly.
