PRAYERS.

Method of naming Committees.

The Lord Privy Seal reported, "That the Lords Committees for Privileges, to whom was referred to examine what hath been the ancient Way of naming Committees upon Occasion either of Bills, or any other Matter, committed by the House to the Consideration of particular Lords, have ordered to report:"

"That they find the Proportions of Committees very different in Number; but, in regard that the Earls Bench and Barons Bench are much increased, and are near equal in Number, but the Bishops Bench continuing the same; they are humbly of Opinion, That there be Two of each of the other Benches named for every One that is named of the Bishops Bench; and, for regular naming thereof, that the Committee of the Earls Bench be first named, then the Bishops, then the Barons, according to the Numbers that shall be agreed for every Bench, and that no Lord be named of a Committee, but by some Lord standing up uncovered."

This Report was read, and agreed to; and ordered accordingly.

Methods of Trial of the impreached Lords.

Upon reading the Report made from the Lords Committees for Privileges, concerning the Methods of Proceedings to be observed at the Trials of the Lords in The Tower:

It is ORDERED, That the Lords Committees for Perusal of the Journal Book be, and are hereby, appointed to make an Abstract of so much thereof as is necessary to be communicated to the House of Commons; the rest to be for the Use of the Lord Chancellor; and to report to this House To-morrow Morning.

To export Leather and Skins, Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for reviving and continuing of a former Act, intituled, An Act for giving Leave to buy and export Leather and Skins tanned or dressed."

Whereas, upon the First Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for reviving and continuing of a former Act, intituled, An Act for giving Leave to buy and export Leather and Skins tanned and dressed;" a Petition of the Shoemakers and other Manufacturers of Leather in and about London was this Day presented, and read; praying that they may be heard, by their Counsel, to set forth their Reasons against the reviving the said Act for exporting of Leather:

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Shoemakers and other Manufacturers in Leather shall be heard, by their Counsel, at the Bar of this House, on Monday the Second Day of June next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, what they have to object against the reviving of the said Act.

Ward versus Booth & al.

Whereas there is a Petition and Appeal of William Ward and others, and an Answer of Nathaniell Booth thereunto, depending in this House; it being moved, on the Behalf of the said Nathaniell Booth, "That a Day may be appointed to hear Counsel thereupon:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear Counsel, at the Bar, on both Parts, upon the said Petition and Answer, on Saturday the 24th Day of this Instant May, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the said Nathaniell Booth is to cause timely Notice to be given to the said William Ward and other Persons concerned for that Purpose.

King's Answer to Address concerning shutting The Tower Gates.

The Earl of Bedford reports, "That himself and the other Lords have presented to His Majesty the humble Desire of this House, that He will give Order to the Constable and Lieutenant of The Tower, that the Gates of The Tower may be shut up every Night at Ten of the Clock; and that no Person may be suffered to pass into, or out of, the said Tower after that Hour of the Night; and His Majesty's Answer is, That He will give Order to the Constable and Lieutenant of The Tower, as is desired."
