PRAYERS.
Letter from the D. of Norff. about his Bill depending.
Upon reading a Letter written by the Duke of Norfolke to the Lord Chancellor, and by his Lordship, in Pursuance of the Request of the said Duke, communicated to this House, concerning a Bill now depending, for settling the Estate of the Duke of Norfolk and Lord Mowbray his Son, and other Matters relating to that Family, in the said Bill specified:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the Contents of the said Letter of the Duke of Norfolke be, and is hereby, referred to the Lords Committees to whom the said Bill stands committed; whose Lordships (before they proceed upon the said Bill) are to send for and examine Henry Keymour, who waited on the said Duke in Flanders, and report their Opinion concerning the said Letter to this House.
The House entered into Debate of the Report Yesterday, from the Committee of both Houses.
And, for the more free Debate thereof, the House was adjourned into a Committee.
The House, being resumed, made this ensuing Order:
Day appointed for the Trial of the Five Papist Lords.
"It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Tuesday next, being the Twenty-seventh Day of this Instant May, be appointed for the Trial of the Five Lords now Prisoners in The Tower; (videlicet,) William Earl of Powis, William Viscount Stafford, William Lord Petre, Henry Lord Arundell of Wardour, and John Lord Belasyse."
Methods of their Trial.
ORDERED, That this House will take into Consideration the Report made from the Lords Committees for Privileges, concerning the Methods of Proceedings to be observed in order to the Trials of the Lords now Prisoners in The Tower, To-morrow Morning, the First Business.
Address for shutting The Tower Gates at Ten at Night.
It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Earl of Bedford, Earl of Suffolke, and Earl of Bridgewater, do attend His Majesty, humbly to desire Him, from this House, "That His Majesty will be pleased to give Order to the Constable, or, in his Absence, to the Lieutenant, of His Majesty's Tower in London, that they, and either of them, take diligent Care, that the Gates of the said Tower may be constantly shut up at Ten of the Clock at Night; and that no Persons whatsoever may be suffered to pass into; or out of, the said Tower, after that Hour of the Night."
Committees adjourned.
ORDERED, That the Committee for the Bill concerning the Officers of the Treasury, and the Bill concerning the Lady Percy, do meet on Thursday next, in the Afternoon.
Adjourn.
