PRAYERS.

Messages from H. C. with Bills.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Roberts, &c; who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better enabling of Mary Countess Dowager of Warwick to perform the last Will and Testament of her deceased Husband, Charles late Earl of Warwick;" to which their Lordships Concurrence is desired.

Another Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir John Trevor and others; who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for hindering Popish Recusants from sitting in either House of Parliament;" to which their Lordships Concurrence is desired.

Libel voted scandalous, &c.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Book, intituled, A Letter from a Person of Quality to his Friend in the Country, is hereby declared to be a lying, scandalous, and seditious Book.

Vote of H. C. for recalling Soldiers out of the French King's Service.

The House took into Consideration the Vote brought from the House of Commons the 25th of October last, for recalling such of His Majesty's Subjects as are Soldiers in the Service of the French King.

For the better Debate thereof, the House was ad journed into a Committee.

The House being resumed;

It was moved, "That in regard this Vote is not according to the ancient Method and usual Way of proceeding in Business of this Nature, the Substance and Intention of this Vote might be put into the Form of an humble Address from both Houses to His Majesty."

Which being agreed to; the House nominated the Earl of Bristol, Earl of Essex, Vicecomes Hallyfax, and the Lord Holles, as a Sub-committee, to withdraw themselves presently into the Prince's Lodgings, and bring the same in so formed.

Accordingly their Lordships presently withdrew.

Upon which, the House was adjourned during Pleasure.

The Sub-committee returning, the House was resumed.

The Earl of Essex reported the Draught which the Sub-committee have agreed upon, as an humble Address to His Majesty; which is offered to the Judgement of the House: Which was read, as followeth:

Address to the King, about it.

"Most Gracious Sovereign,

"We Your Majesty's most dutiful Subjects, the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and, in Parliament assembled, taking Notice, to our great Satisfaction, of Your Majesty's Royal Proclamation, bearing Date the 19th of May, 1675, intituled, "A Proclamation commanding the immediate Return of all Your Majesty's Subjects who have gone into the Service of the French King, as Soldiers, since the late Treary of Peace with The States Generall of The United Provinces, and prohibiting all Your Majesty's Subjects to enter into the said Service for the Time to come;" and finding there has not been that Observance paid to it which Your Majesty might have expected, and all Your loyal Subjects could have wished, do, out of our earnest Desires that Your Royal Intentions, so agreeable to the Interest and Welfare of Your People, should no longer be disappointed, humbly make this our Petition and Address unto Your Majesty, That You would be graciously pleased to renew Your former Proclamation, strengthening it with such additional Severities, upon those who shall not obey it, as shall be agreeable to Law."

ORDERED, That this House agrees to this Address; and that it be communicated to the House of Commons, for their Concurrence, at a Conference, Tomorrow Morning; and a Message to be sent to desire a Conference.

Sir P. Pett's Petition.

The House entered upon Consideration of Sir Peter Pett's Petition; and ORDERED, To take up the Consideration of it again To-morrow Morning.

Denyes versus Sir A. Frazer.

Whereas Frances Denyes, Widow, hath a Petition and Appeal from a Decree made in the Court of Chancery, concerning the Manor of South Sorewell; alias West Court, in the Isle of Wight, depending in this House; to which Sir Alexander Frazier One of His Majesty's Physicians, and Bridget Denyes an Ideot, by her Guardian and Committee, were, by Order of the 26th of May last, appointed to put in their Answer, or respective Answers, as Defendants, which, by reason of the Prorogation then soon after ensuing, was not done:

Upon receiving a Petition of the said Frances Denyes this Day, praying, "That a Day may be limited to the said Sir Alexander Frazier and Bridget Denyes, by her Guardian and Committee, for that Purpose;" it is thereupon ORDERED, by, &c. That the said Sir Alexander Frazier, and Bridget Denyes by her Guardian and Committee, be, and are hereby, required to put in their Answer or respective Answers, in Writing, on Tuesday the Sixteenth Day of this Instant November, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the said Francis Denyes is to cause timely Notice to be given to the Guardian of the said Bridget Denyes and the said Sir Alexander Frazier for that Pupose.

Bulkley versus Bulkley.

Whereas William Bulkley Merchant, hath a Petition and Appeal depending in this House, to be relieved against a Decree made in the Court of Chancery, for his Payment of Thirteen Hundred Pounds to one Bartholmew Bulkley, who was, by Order of the 28th of May last, appointed to put in an Answer thereunto in Writing, which, by reason of the Prorogation then soon after ensuing, was not done:

Upon receiving the Petition of the said William Bulkley, and Case annexed, this Day, praying, "That a Day may be limited to the said Bartholmew Bulkley to answer thereunto;" it is ORDERED, by, &c. That the said Bartholmew Bulkley may have a Copy thereof, to which he is hereby required to put in an Answer in Writing on Saturday the Twentieth Day of this Instant November, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; and that the Service of this Order and the said Case on the said Bartholmew Bulkley shall be a sufficient Notice given for that Purpose.
